Each bun has a different personality. Some of my buns have always wanted to investigate everything, others don’t seem interested at all. 🙂

That’s really great he’s starting to eat again. He prob still needs some more recovery time and care but sounds like thing are on the right track!

Bonnie does cluck! I haven’t heard it in a little while though. I have also heard some very quiet squeaking noises when the buns are cuddling with me.

I posted about it here: https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/bonnie-clucking/

I think if body language looks relaxed and happy, then it is likely a happy noise.

If you notice squeaking or…[Read more]

Thank you DanaNM.  I will see what I can do about setting them up side by side and swapping sides.  I’ll look into the nic cube grids/nose guards.  That does sound like a good idea.  And at least they’ll be closer to each other even when I don’t have time to bond them (my wife works nights, so it’s a challenge some times).  The bonding sess…[Read more]

I am so very sorry for your loss of Tootoo.  She looks ADORABLE, as she was! I know the pain you are experiencing all too well, as my baby Bonny was almost 12 when she passed on 6/23.  Yup, the emptiness is cruel.  Like you, the mornings and evenings are most painful, as these times were her waking hours with many hours of petting and love.  You…[Read more]

I would try a low pile indoor/outdoor carpet instead.

I dont think thete’s anything you can do at home until you’ve seen a vet, unless she stops eating or pooping or shows other signs of acute illness.

(I asked if she was spayed because pyometra and other disorders of the reproductive tract can manifest as drinking and peeing excessively- but since she’s spayed, that can of course be ruled out 👍)

Yeah, that’s what I was planning on doing. Is there anything else I can do in the mean time? I feel like I’ve already left this going for too long.

    And yes, she is spayed

    Thank you for the response!

Indeed, I do not think astroturf is a good idea. It’s likeness to grass aside (though a rabbit wouldn’t likely be fooled because of its smell), it is similar to carpet and I think would be a big chewing/eating hazard, due to astroturf’s material.

It’s hard to say, but you would likely notice within 24hrs if something goes wrong. Is he doing all right now?

Last spring I was really prepping my veggie garden for hard times to come. Then we had the coldest July in 150 years or so, so most of my vegs refused to grow. I had 40 zucchini plants, got 5 zucchini, they were hard as wood because of really slow growth. 🤣

We’ve eaten all the chocolate in our covid box. In the beginning we dutifully replaced it,…[Read more]

I use Vetbeds and cut them to size. I dont know if fake grass might encourage the bun to try and graze.

Sea grass mats are another alternative which is good because they’re perfectly safe to nibble on.

I got my first rabbit when I joined a 4H Thumpers (rabbit) club in my state. They had mini jumps for rabbits and even had rabbit jumping competitions during county fairs. If you live in the US maybe you could try contacting a branch to see if they know where to get some.

The main thing you need to pay attention to when you are buying a jump is…[Read more]

You should call the vet when they open on Monday and make an appointment. Drinking and peeing a lot more than normal is a sign that something isnt right, but exactly what it’s all about, you need a good vet to determine. It is important that you find out what’s wrong so she can start treatment as soon as possible.

    Is your rabbit spayed?

My 7-year old bunny has recently started drinking way more water, and consequently peeing a lot more, than she usually does. I noticed her water bottle was being emptied quite fast around 2 weeks ago but attributed that to thirst caused by heat. Last week when changing her litter box, I noticed that the contents contained so much urine that it…[Read more]
