Just make sure he is not fasted beforehand. Sometimes a well-meaning staff member might give you pre-surgery instructions that are for other animals. Rabbits should not fast. They might even allow you to send in some hay with him on the day.

I sure hope so, he seemed to be the best around, I was reccomended by him from another vet who couldn’t take bunnies.
Thank you for being so calming, I really needed these kinds of words right now…!

being a new bunny mom, im always super worried and paranoid as well. It’s completely normal to be concerned for your bun, and everyone goes through it, we just love ’em so much! Because your vet performs this suregy seemingly often, I think your bun is in good hands.

Thank you so much for the reassuring words! It seriously helped me, when no one else would listen!!
I’m just nervous because I chose not to have bloodwork done on him before the the surgery, because it was optional and really expensive. For this reason, I’ve become paranoid that he may have some underlying thing that’ll be fatal during the…[Read more]

Young rabbits cannot form true bonds. I agree with Wick. The baby may want to get along with your current bunny and your current bunny may or may not see the baby as a threat. Everything will go out the window though once the baby starts to mature. For now, it’s best to keep everyone separated. Then work on bonding once the baby is neutered. It’s…[Read more]

I’ve been doing school from home, but this time period is when I adopted my bun, our one month gotcha day anniversary was just three days ago, so Louie is pretty used to me always being around. When I have to start going back to school I’ll probably set up a pet cam so I can check on him more often, I wonder how he’ll adjust to me being gone. He…[Read more]

You could put mosquito netting around them.

I agree with Dana on the grooming. One-sided grooming isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s nice if they reciprocate. But if it isn’t causing frustration/fighting, then I wouldn’t worry about it.

    Q8 – I hope she comes back. 🙁

Ugh… the heat just keeps on going and going… I’m not going to be happy next week. I will have to be outside. Bleh. Has anyone been working from home? How is you bunny (or bunnies) handling it? You always see pictures of people’s cats and dogs reacting to their humans working at home.

I agree with the others. Extra pellets can definitely make a bunny less hungry for hay, but I wouldn’t rule out possible dental issues completely.

    Hi there, welcome 🙂

So to me, “rolling around” on the floor with fur pulling sounds to me like fighting, and should be prevented. A little nip is OK. Some bonders allow fur pulling, I try to prevent it. Especially if it escalates to true fighting. It is very important to prevent fighting. You can try petting everyone when they approach each…[Read more]

I have 3 bunnies, Mylo, Myrtle and Summer. Summer is the new bunny, Mylo and Myrtle are my original pair which I bonded late last year

I am looking to bond Summer with Mylo and Myrtle. All rabbits are neutered and have been living side by side for the past 3 months.

I have attempted to bond them before in the bath tub. The two lops (Mylo and new…[Read more]

What I would have mentioned is highlighted, but you yourself mention what I think could be a big contributor. Unexpected and frequent servings of pellets could really deter a rabbit from eating hay if they aren’t intrinsically motivated enough to do it.

Agreed re: the sore hocks. I am used to seeing it associated with overweight; not underweight. If there is an underlying medical condition, resolving that would be the most effective way to help with the weight. Outside that, supplementing feeding Critical Care would be my suggestion for weight gain.

I actually only hand pluck my rabbits. I find…[Read more]
