I agree. When it comes to emergencies, hay and pellets are all you need.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Care during summer heat in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years ago
Ah, OK, that makes sense. I suppose taking him inside when it’s hot wouldn’t be too hard on him if the temperature difference is only 10 degrees. That being said, it may not make much difference since being in the shade would have essentially the same effect (depending on humidity and other factors, of course). The suggestion of a cool garage…[Read more]

This morning I saw him ate a little he does eat but he does hesitate a bit, he also poop, it was bigger and rounder than two days ago. Drinking water is still normal, he’s more active today he was running around and stuff. But still sleeps a lot. @DanaNM does critical care help with a gi? cause I’ve been giving him that and belly massages and…[Read more]

I hope you were able to find a solution! A ceiling on it does sound like the best bet if getting a higher one isn’t an option. 60cm is actually short for a pen. I typically at least 80cm. It would be good, when possible, to buy a taller one if you can.
It may help to put a sheet around the pen to block cookie being able to see you as well. If…[Read more]

I am the OP and no rabbit owner should assume that they know everything about how every rabbit should be treated or raised. It would be better if you spoke of how you raise your own, but didn’t presume to censure others for what you judge to be bad treatment.
I don’t think I “dismissed” anyone regarding the rabbit being outside. I explained why I…[Read more]

<p class=”p3″>I have a 1 year old male lionhead who seems to have lost his appetite. About 20 hours ago i noticed him pressing his belly to the floor and he wouldn’t eat (not even treats) so i knew something was wrong. I gave him a belly massage and it helped since afterward he would take food from my hands. It appeared he had gas cause i could f…[Read more]

So Mr Bun is back to thumping. Ive seen his posture a few times and he doesnt appear frightened. Hes still crouching and his eyes are not super wide showing the whites. Sometimes we are are in the room. It feels like hes sending a warning thump but for what purpose I am not sure. Hes worse at night when its really quiet.

Ollie doesn’t like petting and most the time hops away when you try. I started them out in the bathtub then moved them to a food test then my sisters bedroom and they were doing great. Then I moved them to my room ( there pens are in my room and they both run around separately) they were doing great at first for days actually. Then Ollie started c…[Read more]

Hi, thanks for letting me know. I’m not sure if you’re in England or the uk but the vets in my area all seem to do them under anaesthesia. There is a groomers who actually groom rabbits and have quite a bit of experience so I am going to contact them on Monday but he looks quite good now that his moult is coming to an end.

Hi, I’ve noticed my male bunny ginger got like this quite often on and off for a few months. I have now realised it was because of his toilet set up. The litter tray I was using wasn’t deep enough and the bedding wasn’t the best at absorbing. They were the first two things I changed. I also now clean them out more frequently, especially if I noti…[Read more]

I’m very glad you saw a more competent vet, but I’m sorry the news wasn’t better!
I do hope (and am optimistic) that a long rest period will help him heal in a way that helps his leg stabilize. I’m sure that’s what the vet is looking for. It makes sense to me that vet can’t do much now to put the joint back into place with such a long period…[Read more]

@Bunnies simethicone does not treat stasis or blockage, only gas. It’s available as baby gas drops at pharmacies and can sometimes help with gas, but is not a cure-all.
@Lisa Li , it is very good you are able to syringe feed. It is also very good he is drinking water, because hydration and fiber are the most important things for keeping the gut…[Read more]
