Oh, and sorry I didn’t answer your question about the boy!
Having an unneutered male in the house can also upset even a very stable bond. They can be SO smelly. I would hate for you to have this newly bonded couple and have the bond break again.
Breed doesn’t matter at all for a bond, but M-F (castrated of course) pairs do tend to be a bit…[Read more]

Ahh so stressful. 🙁
Hmm so you’ve been working on re-bonding them for 2-ish months? How long were they bonded before they had their fallout? I’m just curious because if they were only spayed 4 months ago, then it sounds like their bond was fairly new? That could have made it more fragile, and if it broke just 2 months after their spay, then…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Why does my bunny lick me but not let me pet her? in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 2 months ago
Buns can be very particular, and if often works well to play “hard to get”. 🙂
Sometimes a strong smell of a lotion or perfume will make a bun not want to be petted. The other thing is how you approach the petting. If you make a fist that looks like a small bunny head, and place it on the ground near the bun’s face (but not immediately in front…[Read more]

Her spaying could have been the trigger, because spaying causes some hormonal fluctuation that could trigger marking in the other bun.
Keep a close eye on them, sometimes there can be fighting due to these hormonal fluctuations. If you notice an increase in mounting, chasing, or any fur pulling at all you’ll need to separate them and go through…[Read more]

Any newspaper is fine, just don’t use the glossy ad pages. 🙂

Ok that’s good to know! Yeah he said they would just be spraying it on the foundation outside, and he said the same thing about it being fine once it’s dried.

Also try to make her move around a bit (dont chase her, though). Movement helps the intestines work like they should so gas can pass a lot easier.

Hello! Sorry to ask (since I know you guys have gotten a lot of similar eye questions over the years), but I haven’t been able to track down an answer for this particular situation!
My rabbit Leila gets eye crusties (“sleep”) in the corners of her eyes pretty much every day. This seems normal for her. I gently take them out with my fingers. I…[Read more]

I agree, it could be gas. If you get on top of it right away, you can prevent possibly prevent things from progressing. Simethicone and tummy massages often help relieve gas pain.

A 3 hour late night date today, they were much mellower than the days before. We picked them up again this time. I found out that I can’t pick them up if they’re in the bathroom: they’re too fast.
I may be able to pick them up when they’re in the living room by waiting until one is in their hutch. The other is in the pen, and that’s much…[Read more]

Hi everyone, this is my first post so thank you for reading 🙂
2 rescue buns – 4 year old Holland dwarf ‘Frida’ and younger Lionhead ‘Tila’. Previously bonded before emergency vet visit for Tila, on her return home Frida attacked her and it’s been ongoing since then. We are finally past the fighting and aggressive behaviour but now Frida either…[Read more]

Hey,
How is your bunny doing now?
This does sound like the typical signs of GI stasis onset. If her symptoms are still persisting I would get her straight to the vet for treatment.
If my bunnies fail the treat test I will usually give smithecone, one dose hourly and tummy massage and if theres no improvement after 3 doses I’d usually bring them…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Does anyone have any experience with Zylkene? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 2 months ago
Zylkene does not contain lactose. I haven’t heard of it being used for rabbits, but I have heard of it being used for horses. I have no experience with Zylkene, so I can’t comment on its effectiveness. Some vets are more open to experimenting, so I imagine that is why your vet suggested it. My vet was very open with experimenting with alternative…[Read more]

kanin started the topic Moving from house to apartment – what are some ways I can house my buns? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 4 years, 2 months ago
Hello all. I currently live in a house with roommates, where I am in a really big master bedroom with my bunnies (1 bonded pair and 1 seperate.) I have 2 different setups made from grids, and they take turns being let out to run around and relax outside of them. I may be moving soon to a small apartment, probably 1 bedroom 1 bath. I’m thinking I…[Read more]

Its only the bunny beds that he had been peeing on. He hasn’t had any new roommates but Lennon (his sister that lives together with him) recently got spayed, would that cause it, he only started peeing on beds after Lennon’s spaying.
