So, unfortunately we have some carpenter ants coming through the wall, really close to Cooper and Bonnie’s pen. I talked to the pest control people (who are the most eco-friendly ones in town), and they said the most effective thing will be to use fipronil around the foundation of the house outside. UGHHHHH

I know fipronil is super toxic to rabbits, so this is a problem! But I’m wondering if it will be a problem since it will be outside and just around the base of the house? I’m going to consult with their vet about this as well, but does anyone have any experience with this?

If I seal up the house and move the buns upstairs for a few days, would that be enough?

Or should we try some different treatments first??

We had the house treated for termites a couple of times. They drilled it into the ground around the foundation though. Never had a problem. Fipronil is standard treatment for termites and carpenter ants. Other stuff doesn’t work as well. Are they just spraying around the foundation outside? Like on the ground? I’m thinking it will be fine once it has dried. I think keeping the windows closed, etc. will be fine. I don’t know if you need to move them necessarily.

Ok that’s good to know! Yeah he said they would just be spraying it on the foundation outside, and he said the same thing about it being fine once it’s dried.
