Dally replied to the topic My Bunny Having Seizures? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 3 years, 2 months ago
Hi, So we went to the vet, and they think that she had some sort of parasite (that we treated) but the side affects stay with her for the rest of her life. The seizures were mostly because of dehydration, because she can’t get to her water bowl (the parasite affected her brain, so she can no longer walk). Thanks for all your help!

Thank you so very much for this update! It is very valuable!
Im so glad to hear he’s doing so much better with his hind end! It does seem very likely that the cause of the paralysis was/is EC. The improvement seems too swift and radical for the paralysis to have been due to arthritis/joint inflammation. (Arthritis and joint inflammation can…[Read more]

just thought I’d update this in case someone with a similar experience happens upon this post while googling;
Wolf continues to thrive. Still has that stubborn URI (on his second round of antibiotics now, definitely gonna need a third and possible change but we’ll see) but in terms of his hind limb weakness, you’d never think that just under…[Read more]

They wont forget about you, but you can expect quite a bit of “the dreaded bunny butt” when you return. Since their brains now have had ample time to form a strong association between you and good things like food, treats and cuddles, forgetting about you would not be functional from a survival p o v. They will soon recognize your scent and…[Read more]

Girl rabbits are prone to uterine cancer, so it’s very wise to have them spayed. Any surgical procedure for a bun +5 years is riskier than it is a young rabbit, but rabbit savvy vets know this and have special protocols for it.
Boy buns can get testicular cancer, but it’s a lot less common than uterine cancer in does. For bonding purposes,…[Read more]

BrownietheBunny replied to the topic Sneezing vs. choking? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 3 years, 2 months ago
hi! My bunny chokes a lot of times due to her dental issues, so I hope my experience can help 😆
When my bunny chokes, she opens her mouth instead cause she can’t breathe through her nose. Also, choking tends to last over a longer period of time, if your bunny is sneezing, I don’t think that he or she will keep sneezing over a longer period of…[Read more]

Hi! Definitely get it spayed as soon as possible. I wouldn’t really worry about “how old is too old”. The main concern should be reducing the chances of it getting cancer asap.

My older half sister got rabbits around the same time that I did (5 years ago for Easter. We did a ton of research first.). And she was wondering how old would be considered too old to spay/neuter her rabbits. She got hers from being rehomed and I got mine from a rescue. Mine were already spayed/neutered so I don’t have to worry. It seems like…[Read more]

I hope this works this time. So sorry for the late reply. I was watching something on TV and there was plates/silverware clinking against each other and it wasn’t too loud. And Bramble thumped. I haven’t had an issue with him thumping before and I still question his hearing. But I guess if he heard that then is hearing should be fine right?

Hello, thanks for taking the time to read this!
I have a bonded pair. One I have had for two years, the other for a year and a half.
I love them very much.
This summer I am going away on an archeology field school for 51 days. So a little under two months.
I have been with my bunnies very often, other than going to university classes during the…[Read more] -

Many good brands. Just avoid ones with fillers (corn, wheat, soy, etc.). And the types with all the “goodies”.
Also, it’s surprising how many pet foods contain sugar…why? Obviously those aren’t good at all.

I did a second session with the boys today, and had the barrier again. We stayed about 2.5 hours and was pretty uneventful. Maxwell did seem nervous, and they only sniffed noses once through the gate and there was no aggression.
It’s been about an hour and they are laying next to each other (against fence) back in their regular spaces! I’m…[Read more]
