I have had my bunnies 9 weeks they are 17wk old and they were outside in a 2 tier hutch separated,(boy/girl) i felt really sorry for them so i went and got 2 big indoor cages they are now living in the room under stairs. They have plenty of time out of the cage at different times seen as though they cant be together! I still let them have a run…[Read more]

How much does Hunny weigh?(Approximately, if you dont know exactly). I’m thinking about the Metacam dosage. Rabbits metabolize metacam very quickly. From what I can see, the dose she has been prescribed is 0.45 ml of 1.5 mg/ml strenght Metacam. This gives 0.675 mg metacam. A bun can have 0.3 – 1.5 mg metacam per kilo bodyweight, once or twice per…[Read more]

The heatwave broke for us last night. It’s gloriously chilly this morning and Choo and i are snuggling under a quilt ☺️

That’s my problem too. In a desert country where buns have awful lives, i could volunteer at an actual shelter 30ish minutes away from home. Here in Canada, there is no proper bunny shelter as the few bunny rescues operate via foster homes instead. 😂

I know some can become uninterested a few of my rabbits over the years loved toys as babies and then just didn’t like them anymore as adults. But they never just stopped playing completely.

The only thing I can think of that has changed is my dog passing. But they never really interacted. She doesn’t act stressed since she still eats and drinks…[Read more]

Some rabbits just become uninterested with their toys, but if they completely stop playing completely, there might be something causing it. If there were some kind of environmental changes or something stressing your rabbit out, they might not play with them too much. I would monitor her behavior a bit and see if something might be awry.

The Binky Bunny store sells dried willow. : )

Just some additional ideas with food: chopping some greens finely but also offering like you have been (ie. the cilantro) as she might prefer it that way. Fresh grass might be manageable for her or could be offered chopped also.

Would you be able to find some pure hay pellets? For example  Usually…[Read more]

I am not sure what has changed but for the last few months, Joey has stopped playing completely. She was obsessed with her toys but now they just sit in the corner of her cage untouched.

Any suggestions on why a rabbit would stop playing?

Don’t beat yourself up! At the beginning, her symptoms were pointing toward the most logical cause: tooth issues. It made sense to have her teeth checked and filed if necessary. I wouldn’t think a little filing, even if it wasn’t needed, would hurt anything. As others have said, the teeth DO grow back. So likely no harm done in the long run.…[Read more]

Chances are he probably is a mix. The white marks you describe are usually from the vienna gene. So these rabbits are called Vienna-Marked. It’s to do more with colours and patterns then breeds themselves. With the vienna gene, you might get rabbits with blue eyes and dutch rabbit-like markings or just a few white parts like spot on the nose or…[Read more]

I’m not sure about buying them in-store, but there are many places to buy them online, which may take a little too long to arrive. Pet stores nearby may sell willow wreaths for small animals, you could check out websites of pet stores near you.

Ive actually just bought 2 packs of the foam tiles to trial. I plan to cover the edges because I know they will be chewed otherwise. Im really hoping the rest would be left alone…  I have a mini rex and I’m wanting to give some softer flooring spaces along with some traction. He has chewed fabric a little but doesnt go to town on it. I do think…[Read more]

My rabbit has a sort of “clapping behavior” as described, he kind of rubs his paws together and it looks a big forced, but it is just part of his grooming routine.

I agree with everything Wick said. They should be separated. Even if they are both female, they could start fighting. Keep them separated until they can both be spayed. Then you can work on rebonding.

If one of the bunnies is a male, then it’s likely too late. If bunny is pregnant, you will notice a weight change over the next 30 days. Sometimes…[Read more]

Yes, Hunny’s lips appear normal. It’s funny you mention stomach pain influencing food dropping out of their mouth, because last night, I helped my girl pass gas, and she ate five or six pieces of cilantro with no trouble whatsoever. It was like she was normal again.

Neither our regular vet nor the specialist found anything wrong with Hunny’s…[Read more]

My bunny is a Havana, according to the shelter, and since he is brown, he’s the chocolate Havana. He looks similar to the chocolate Havanas on breed sites and when you search for chocolate Havanas, however, he has little white feet, a tiny dot of white on his nose, and a light white-ish gray tuft on his chest. Havanas’ recognized colors are black,…[Read more]

Do her lips appear normal? Nothing drooping? One thought I had was she may be having trouble controlling her mouth. If that were true though, it would suggest there was damage to the nerves somehow. I’m assuming this isn’t the case. I’m just thinking about my own experience.

Food dropping out of their mouth doesn’t necessarily mean tooth pain. It…[Read more]
