I agree with Dana on the grooming. One-sided grooming isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s nice if they reciprocate. But if it isn’t causing frustration/fighting, then I wouldn’t worry about it.

Ugh… the heat just keeps on going and going… I’m not going to be happy next week. I will have to be outside. Bleh. Has anyone been working from home? How is you bunny (or bunnies) handling it? You always see pictures of people’s cats and dogs reacting to their humans working at home.

I agree with the others. Extra pellets can definitely make a bunny less hungry for hay, but I wouldn’t rule out possible dental issues completely.

What I would have mentioned is highlighted, but you yourself mention what I think could be a big contributor. Unexpected and frequent servings of pellets could really deter a rabbit from eating hay if they aren’t intrinsically motivated enough to do it.

Agreed re: the sore hocks. I am used to seeing it associated with overweight; not underweight. If there is an underlying medical condition, resolving that would be the most effective way to help with the weight. Outside that, supplementing feeding Critical Care would be my suggestion for weight gain.

You can try offering hay in new ways so see if that helps, but dental issues can appear as a subtle change in diet preferences.
