jerseygirl replied to the topic Is Red/Black pee an emergency…??? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 2 months ago
Is he okay with being handled? I do think it would be worth picking him up to check his genitals just in case.
Is it normal for him to pee outside of the litter box sometimes?
If highly unusual, that in itself could indicate he has something going on. But if he sometimes pees on the floor, I do agree it could be just the pee that is concentrated…[Read more]

So I’ve realised I am being manipulated. He has turned into an angel this past week since he’s been inside 24/7! I’ve been home a lot too and I think that he just wants it his way or no way. Newest thing is his obsession with scratching and biting and organising my blanket and dressing gown. And then sits on them. It’s fine except when I’m wearing it!

One of my buns Pumpkin took a very long time to become social because of her difficult history, dont feel discouraged, your bun will come around. After the spay you could try mixing the meds with a bit of fruit so that it is more tempting – Pumpkin actually liked the taste of the painkillers so she did not object to taking them. Oh, and none of…[Read more]

Thank you everyone. We spent the day near his old, first apartment where we met him, and buried an image of him near there. We also donated to the House Rabbit Society in his name. Best wishes to you both.

call the vet this isn’t good
My Research
Cases of bloody urine in rabbits often turn out to be normal rabbit urine which is simply a deep red colour due to the excretion of plant pigments within the diet. Actual cases of blood in the urine (haematuria) are often due to stones/sludge within the urinary tract, cystitis, uterine adeno…[Read more]

Some bunnies might not be afraid of you per say, but they still wont trust you. For a prey animal, 6 weeks is a very short amount of time to gain true trust. One of mine took over a year with me before spontaneously deciding I was the greatest thing in the world.
Some rabbits just dont really appreciate pets, particularly young, teenage rabbits…[Read more]

Louiethebunny replied to the topic How to get bunny to stop ripping out carpet? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 2 months ago
Louie has his own little mat he likes to dig at, and a nice ceramic tile fixed that up. He sometimes lays on it to cool off too, so it works for two things! We had our leftover in the garage from a bathroom remodel years ago but they can also be picked up at the hardware store.

A big (12″x12″) ceramic tile placed on the dig spot has always worked for me.
For the wood floor, could you put a fleece blanket down?

Here’s what I’ve found from my research, there are ways to train your bun to not chew the carpet. Step one would be to make the carpet undesirable to your rabbit. You can put in chew toys for her to chew, and when she chews on something more appropriate, reward her with extra pets. Another way is to put small items on top of the spots where she is…[Read more]

What an adorable and very loved rabbit he was 🙂 It takes time and I think it’s wonderful that you’re wondering what you can do today in commemoration.
Some people make donations to where they may have rescued/adopted their rabbit from and others simply use it as a day to relax and love the babies they have now. Whatever feels right for you!
