JojoBunny started the topic Bunny leaving special poop everywhere. in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 12 months ago

Hi everyone, I posted here in the past with my dutch bunny being obsessed with peeing on the couch, but recently he started leaving his soft special poop all over the carpet! He’s usually very good and goes in his litter box, I don’t know what got into him. He still leaves his regular poop in the litter. I did notice he stopped eating during the…[Read more]

Hazel: šŸ˜† Oh yes, I have a whole farm! (well, technically not, but I sure have a lot… šŸ˜‰ ) I’ve got chickens, ducks, a turkey, cats, rabbits, an elderly dog, Miguel, and fish. šŸ˜† I think that would be a bit too many pictures. šŸ˜‰ The cat in the picture was Pumpkin. The cats and the rabbits don’t get along so good, so there is one portion…[Read more]

Oh definitely, it doesn’t help that they are fragile little creatures. Though I am learning maybe not as fragile as made out to be, still it took me several months to just relax a little.

@Sonn – Tater Tot is just a tiny ball of precious! Love that pic!!

@HipHopBunny – Have you ever had Miguel race any of the buns šŸ˜‰ and who is that handsome kitty?

@Hazel – Ha! Dorian has never grunted… he will sit there and wobble his plate if it is empty for too long though, I am curious what a bun grunt sounds like now! šŸ˜€

Some seeds are difficult to digest, so they go right through. This is important for many plants, they rely on birds and wild animals to eat their seeds, then carry them away a distance where the seed can be deposited with the poop (excellent manure!) and maybe grow into new plants. There are even seeds that won’t sprout if they haven’t first…[Read more]

Thanks! I figured it’s probably not an issue since I saw these seeds fall off some of the hay after I noticed those poops. I just thought they would be digested into the poops? It could’ve fallen on top since there were some inside too.

Thank you Bam! I’ll give him some drops today then. Last time he ate them on a piece of lettuce which makes it a lot easier for the both of us. I really hope he’ll eat some Oxbow hay then maybe he’ll eat more of the farm hay.

Thank you littlemouse93! Yeah I think some are just pickier than others too. Muffins been eating the new hay and enjoying it. Pinky liked it the first night but not anymore lol. But we’ll have to see Ā if it’s because he doesn’t like it or if there’s an issue.

The shelter he came from said he was picky with his hay and would only eat it if they…[Read more]

My cat Miss is super unsure about Tater Tot. She stands there like a statue when he is on the bed. 😂

I really can’t wait for my new camera soĀ he doesn’t look like a tiny blob.

Size comparison of sorts. Miss is a 3.8lb cat.

My Honey Bunny is picky about hay, too. In the past I tried to get hay from tractor supply in a large bale because it was so much cheaper, but he just wouldn’t take to it. I tried so hard to get him to eat it, but he just wouldn’t eat enough of it and it caused a bout of stasis. I ended up having to go back to giving brand name hay to avoid gut…[Read more]

Has anyone experienced negative attention seeking behaviors from your rabbit(s)?

2 of the 3 rabbits I have are pretty laid back and are perfectly content to busy themselves with their toys and munching on hay. They’ll occasionally chew on something I don’t want them to, but they respond well when I say ā€œnoā€ and go on about their business doing s…[Read more]

Thank you. I kept giving him new handfuls of the store bought hay and farm hay, he would pick up pieces and drop it. I saw him eat a couple pieces though.

I tried hand feeding but he didn’t care, he will usually take it but not this time. ): I gave him toys with hay in it and half a cube of the alfalfa hay. He ate the alfalfa. One of the toys i…[Read more]

Hay doesn’t really need transitioning, but if you have some hay left that he likes, you can of course mix it up for starters.

If he likes this hay and eats more of it, he could get a bit of gas again as his tummy adjusts to more fiber. This is natural, and the hay will help normalise his gut microbiome, but gas drops can be given as a precaution.…[Read more]

It would actually be better to split the bun’s exercise time into two chunks (morning and evening) than to do it all at once. But I agree that more time is better. 10 sq ft would be OK for a pen or cage, but then the exercise area should be at least 50 sq ft.

I agree with others that it would probably be best and least stressful to wait…

You can do tub/stress sessions as often as you would like, so long as all the buns aren’t getting too stressed (eating and pooping normally).

What do you mean by putting them together in active hours, do you mean in the other bonding area? If so, then it’s worth trying. Some people also like to do a “stress sandwich”, where you do a short amount…[Read more]
