@Hiphopbunny, pics of other pets than buns are definitely encouraged in the lounge! Cats, dogs, ferrets, piggies, hamsters, rats, horses, torts, lizards, birds, wallabies, fish- I think we even got pics of a very big pet snail once 😃

Urinary incontinence can be due to a UTI. I think that would be the most common cause. Another possible cause is e cuniculi which can affect the kidneys, but it generally manifests as more ample amounts of urine (puddles).

The loose dark stools in combo with a bit of incontinence makes me think of gastric irritation/ulceration. There could…[Read more]

Hahah I knew you would be disappointed @Hazel ! I have my hands full with my current three! Really hoping to get the trio bonded soon but I keep having second thoughts. It is hard to stay motivated when you have a current happy pair already, plus Bun Jovi’s age. One of the leads from the rescue offered to work with them at her house so I may take…[Read more]

Most times cats and rabbits are fine together without too much intro needed. Whether you trust them free-roam unsupervised will depend on their personalities. Are your bunnies very small or skittish? Does the cat have a strong prey drive? Usually we only worry when the bunnies are babies or very small, and the cat has a strong prey drive.

    Really…[Read more]

My spayed 5.5 year old american rabbit Snuggles has been suffering from this for a month or two now. Not constant, but frequent. I will find small amounts of urine in various places, most of the time accompanied by poop, sometimes firmer, sometimes very loose.  I have to clean her bottom often, and today a couple spots were very dark, like almost…[Read more]

@Hazel: This year it seems like everything is out to get bunnies.  Just like it’s open season on us hoomans.  Kitty is fine.  I’m chalking this event up to her age and size.  Loki, being the Moose that he is, with that youth factor thrown in, seems bulletproof.  (I know he’s not, but….)  And Pyewacket, her kitty,  is fine.  she was treated…[Read more]

    Nooo, Sven… 😥

Norway, how fun! You’ll have to tell us all about it! 🙂

I just opened my new hay bale from Tractor Supply, it’s moldy. Now I’ll have to go and return it. 🙁  Hopefully it’s just a fluke, I’ve never gotten a moldy bale from them before. Poor Oscar, he was all excited about it.

    Thanks guys!

Bam, I get mine from the dollar store! Pinky likes to make holes in them… Muffin rarely digs anymore, doesn’t chew it like Pinky lol. I still try to cover the areas where Pinky destroys it, or I’d be left with no blankets!

What Dana said. Clean everything very well, and only put one new item into the pen at a time. When they’re good with that, move on to the next item.

It looks like string or fur sticking out, which isn’t uncommon. Is your rabbit currently molting? Typically they end up ingesting more fur than usual during a molt, leading to fur coming out in poop, such as “string of pearl” poops.

While gross to consider, you can crack open a poop in a tissue or something and it is usually clear if it’s fur,…[Read more]

Hi! New bunny owner here. Should I be concerned about this poop (see photo!)? A majority is normal, small round poops, but I would say 15-20% of the poops are small round balls with a little “tail.” There are also maybe 5 oval shaped ones. I’ve had the bunny about 2 weeks, and the only change is bedding yesterday. I have not seen this poop prior to today.

I don’t have any personal experience, because I’m very allergic to cats, but I know we have several members who have cats and rabbits in the same household. I hope you’ll soon get more answers from people with actual practical experience with such constellations!

Hi there, it would help if you fill out the “bonding template” pinned in this section. If you copy and paste it into your reply we can get a bit more background on your process so far to give better feedback. 🙂

That said, it’s best to use a brand new litter box when introducing it to them, or one that has been cleaned VERY well. Same goes for…[Read more]

My rabbit and his bonding female rabbit are off to a good start. The female has been establishing her dominance. Both groom each other and seem happy during their bonding session in an EMPTY nuetral pen.

As next steps, I added a litter box that had been used by both of them, a hay bin, water bowl, tunnel, and toys in the neutral pen. The dominant…[Read more]

@LBJ10 – well I am used to cats, so that will work for me! Though he did stop and then went and did his crazy digging in his box where he is allowed to. It gives me hope one day he’ll figure out that when I say Dorian I am not just announcing his majesty to all who are present but would like him to come. Even with a treat he just stares at me…[Read more]

Hi thanks for the reply , I am not very sure if it’s like a binky.  She is 8 years old and seldom does a binky anymore.

It has never happened during urinating. She has been neutered though.

I managed to upload a video of her doing it: https://youtu.be/WV2xo2mRAcc

Domesticated rabbits typically don’t see humans as a predator, especially ones that are accustomed to living inside a house. They will communicate (or attempt to communicate) with you like they would with another rabbit. I’m sure they know humans aren’t actually rabbits, but they interact with humans as though they are peers (rather than…[Read more]
