This doesnt look like blood to me. You can test if it is blood by dripping some hydrogen peroxide on it. If it foams (a lot), it is blood. If it doesnt foam, it is just urine.

Rabbit urine comes in a variety of color, and theres practically always some calcium in it.

Here is an article about rabbit…[Read more]

Hi everyone. I have a Holland dwarf rabbit, 6 months. I saw this when I woke up this morning. I’m not sure if this is urine blood? Or did it drink less water?

Thank you so much for your advice. I gave her a little more CC in the middle of the night and stoked up the fire to keep her warm. I just went to check on her this morning she’s hopping about, nibbling hay and had a few poops! I’m so relieved and happy my vet although not a bunny specialist knew what she needed.

The linked article is really use…[Read more]

Yes, in the end the difference between humans and animals is reason. Animals don’t think about family planning and resource management. As humans we can do two things: don’t interfere with stray animals and let them compete like all other animals, or interfere and help them.

The second choice is something most of us feel is most humane. You’re…[Read more]

Yes, video brought the sound in Turkey. Everyone talks about animal experiments. I hope it works.

I went through a period of this when my boys were newly bonded as well and it resolved after a few weeks so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that yours will too. With my boys they were just bonded and the submissive rabbit wasn’t fully onboard with being submissive and I think that’s why he was doing it. Even though they’re bonded, it’ss new and…[Read more]

Wow, sounds like he had a whole lot of issues. 🙁  Hopefully he got some help too.

I love animals, I totally get why people want to do something for them. Unfortunately they often don’t commit. If you want to save a stray that’s great, but that means getting them vet care, altering and if possible, giving them a proper home. Just throwing food…[Read more]

Yes, these situations are weird and comparable to indoor animal hoarding. The people who do this often have a history of mental problems, and animal control is familiar with these situations.

The old man I was talking about was very paranoid and a chronic drug user. He tended to humanise animals and thought that neutering/spaying animals was the…[Read more]

Thanks everyone for the advice! 🙂

@LBJ10 : There are a few organizations in our area that do low cost spay and neuter for ferals, but as far as I can tell we would have to pay for it ourselves. I’ll keep researching though, and we’ll call animal control as well.

I haven’t heard of that as a remedy, but I have heard that type of neosporin is OK to use.  When we had a pair at the rescue start doing this, it resolved on its own once the situation was less stressful. I think unless it seems to be getting worse, I would prob just monitor them and try to avoid making any other changes for a little while.

Coincidentally, I just came across this, it’s really well done. Looks like the Humane Society International is working on a campaign to end animal testing in cosmetics. You will cry, but worth watching and sharing with those who may not think about this sort of thing.

Next time they’re chasing I’ll make sure to check, thank you.
Other than just monitoring them, I’ve heard about people suggesting putting Neosporin (the type without pain relief) to deter bunnies from over grooming. Would you recommend trying it out or have you heard anything about that before? Thanks
