The buns have been doing well and do so much better when not penned up. The biggest challenge for us is currently the morning when everyone is going nuts and hungry. They understand the routine, snd once theyre fed they settle down waiting for my return. Im at a point where I can leave them out all day together and watch them on a camera when…[Read more]

Bam raises some important points and things to look out for. As the fellow owner of a chonky boy, I will also add that sometimes my boy teeters when he grooms. I’m not sure he’s ever fallen completely on his side or back, but I have seen him get off balance before. It mostly happens if he’s trying to get hard to reach places, so it doesn’t occur e…[Read more]

I think there’s a blood test or something they can run to see what levels of hormones are coursing through the rabbit. It is possible that this may be hormonal. I understand resources (both for you and the vet) may be limited, but it may be something to explore.

Well, we decided that we’ll get her fully examined when we’ll move back to out cou…[Read more]

I ditto what others have said.  You could save this just for a treat– like a little pinch, but not as his main pellet.  🙂

So my experience when it comes to kibble is,

So I gave 2 of my rabbits Young Oxbow Rabbit food up until they were 1 year old and just followed the instructions on the bag when they were 6 months for the amount.

When I got the 3rd bunny my other 2 were already 4 years old and on Oxbow Garden Select Adult Kibble at the time… I was a naughty…[Read more]

I agree with LJB10.  This is temporary.  It will take time for him to heal.  His hormones will settle. (It can take 6 weeks or so).   The hormones that were driving him to mate — which makes him circle and other behaviors that could be seen as play and affection may be less, but he seems very comfortable with you and will still like to get affe…[Read more]

    Hey all

I noticed at the pet store today they were selling Dried Sunflower Stalks on a rope for bunnies.

I have sunflowers growing in my garden and was thinking hey! Free toys!

Has anyone tried dried sunflower toys or I guess even fresh sunflower stalks with their buns? Or tried drying them yourself?

Hopefully your mom will understand that if he does have an ear infection, it won’t get better on its own (same goes for EC).

I gotta share something that happened about 51 minutes ago. I was giving the buns fresh water for the night and my nephew followed me in to my room (he’s 22 (1 year and 10 months) old) and was just walking around my room. Well he got near Blossom and I saw movement from the corner of my eye, it looked like she jumped and I asked my mom if she…[Read more]

Goodness sorry for the late reply!! Reading what other’s have said, and I thank them for their help as well, and seeing that he is a lop bunny, it might be an ear infection. It seems the most likely out of the two since he doesn’t really have certain symptoms of EC, but like you said, you can’t be sure until a vet sees him.  I wanna get him to a…[Read more]

I used chlorohexidine to treat my rabbit’s ringworm, but my exotic vet advised me to just spot-clean the spots. I used a system of wet towels and q-tips to wet the area slightly, apply and slightly scrub in the soap, and then rinse and dry using more towels and qtips as needed. At no point is water being poured or sprayed on the rabbit, and I…[Read more]

Thank you for the response! I’m sorry I find it hard to use this website in the mobile version,  so I can’t fix any typing errors 😅

    So:

Re: the petting and then the “snap”, it makes me wonder if she actually is enjoying the petting in that instance.

There are times she’s super sweet, she’ll, you know, teeth purr because she enjoys it (I thin…[Read more]

The active ingredient is chlorhexidine. Diluted chlorhexidine is “safe” to use on rabbits, but some individuals are sensitive to it and can suffer chemical burns. As Dana pointed out though, baths are not recommended except under very extreme circumstances. There are many treatment options available for ringworm. Medirabbit has a nice article…[Read more]

Most pets I have had, though not beggars (I am not a fan of that so try to never get that going) have been at least mostly able to be motivated by food… and by most pets I mean cats. Cats being generally speaking hard to motivate and often picky eaters. So here I am with a bun, princeling Dorian, who puts all those food snobs to shame. He loves…[Read more]
