We had a trust problem with Cookie after the surgery, now he trusts me again and is not afraid of me, he lets me caress him and sometimes sleeps with me.
But here’s the thing. Cookie wants to be alone more than before. He wants to be alone for half the day. Do you think this is due to hormonal changes after sterilization, or does he feel lonely…[Read more]

Gingerxmistyxo started the topic Matting help plz!! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 1 month ago
Hi so ginger sheds a lot and hates being groomed. I get as much as I can off him using a brush but today when I’ve turned him round to do his bum check, I’ve found he’s quite matted around his bum and hind leg area. Can anyone help me on what to do? He won’t let me brush it and I’m cautious to do that anyway as I don’t want to hurt his skin. Could…[Read more]

“cow pile” is a name that is sometimes used for the “wet” version of megacolon. It tends to cause wet unformed poops and weight loss because the cecum isn’t functioning properly.
I’m sorry you don’t have any rabbit-savvy vets in your area, that makes things so hard. 🙁
That dark liquid is concerning, can you put some hydrogen peroxide on it to…[Read more]

Some of Binkie’s favorites are loofas, applesticks, and palm and willow toys! I got her a whole forage basket full of them and she loved it. I bought them off a seller called WinnieGuineaPoo. In their range they have cute little cupcakes, willow chews, treat pots and so much more. They were off Amazon but I’m sure they’re on Etsy too. Here’s what…[Read more]

Is she refusing food? If a bun stops eating you shouldn’t let more than 6- 12 hours pass before you see a vet.
If she is a good hay eater, you can put her on a hay only diet. If she isnt a good hay eater you should just taper down the amount of daily pellets, ot she might starve.
If you have simethicone baby gas drops you can give her 0.5-1 m…[Read more]

Hello my fellow buns.
I’m in need of help. Last few days my rabbit produced soft stools along with normal droppings.
Today, not normal droppings only soft cecotrope stools. She ate her salad and pellets in the morning but since then no food. Just a little bit of hay.
Should I be concerned and go to a vet or I can treat this at home by feeding…[Read more]

Update: I saw this dark-brownish red spill on the floor when I went to check on her this morning. I had given here a raisin and a little alfalfa hay the previous afternoon, but this looks like a leak right? It doesn’t look like urine to me. I don’t know.

This is what she look likes now… she is definitely underweight but you can’t see it too…[Read more]

Mp replied to the topic Do bunnies have to eat greens? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 1 month ago
Thank you everyone.
If I put them down near him he hops away from them. He will occasionally nibble at lettuce:He did enjoy them at the beginning. I guess I will keep trying and if he wants to eat them he can – if not they won’t go to waste. He has a friend who loves them!!! 😉
thanks again.

That’s hilarious. My rabbit has been known to too water bowls over.
Our vet recommended adding a little fruit juice, to get her to pass some sludge years ago, to the water. It helped and when we tried to go back to water she would stand next to the bowl and stomp! Hahaha

I am ecstatic to report Gus is eating his entire breakfast right as I type this! He continued to munch on hay throughout the night and took a few treats from us and now – a whole breakfast with his usual pellets and greens!
And he’s running away from us whenever we come near with a syringe! As weird as it might sound he was so lethargic he just…[Read more]

@Meg – It is really hard to find bun food and stuff here. It’s hard, but I’m trying to stay strong and be positive about it, though. Hopefully everything will turn out okay, and it’s nothing too serious. I just get worried whenever things happen to her because I’ve lost a bun traumatically, and I don’t want it to ever happen again. I’ve actually…[Read more]

Nelson is a 3 year old broken blue tort. He is the sweetest most loving bun I have ever met! About 2 months ago now I noticed he was acting a bit strange and there was weird looking green and clear snot on the floor. I had no clue where it was coming from until I heard and seen the sneeze fit. I took him to the vet and she took his temp and tested…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Young rabbit ate sweet gum leaves. Should I be concerned? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 1 month ago
Not that I’m aware of. There may be some chemical compounds in the leaves that can cause stomach upset, but that is true for a lot of trees. Rabbits, in general, seem to tolerate these things better than dogs or cats. I’m not sure how long it has been, but if something was toxic you would see a reaction relatively quickly. Rabbits cannot vomit……[Read more]

I’m very happy to hear he’s improving and the hay tea helped!!!
Heat and molting could def trigger GI issues. Idk if it’s from too much fur in the belly or just generally feeling icky from the heat, but it is pretty common. But the meds and CC will help him get back on track!
If he has stuck on cecotropes you should clean them off, because fly…[Read more]
