BenitoTheBunny started the topic Is this neuter wound normal? in the forum DIET & CARE 2 years, 9 months ago
Hi all!
My rabbit, Benito, got neutered 6 days ago. He hasn’t let me pick him up to check his wound but I’ve been able to check it by bribing him to stand on his two feet with a treat. I noticed that it looks off but this is my first rabbit so I’m not sure what it’s even supposed to look like. The vet is closed right now so I can’t call or bring…[Read more]

My bunny tends to eat his if he lets out a dropping in a place he’s not supposed to (that’s not in his room or litter area). For example, it happens sometimes he relaxes and accidentally lets out one on the towel I have in front of my computer if I’ve been petting him for awhile. He usually notices immediately, then ‘cleans up after himself…[Read more]

Does that mean I should be giving her more hay/food? She has a good amount in her litter box but sometimes doesn’t like to eat the older hay that has been sitting out for a few hours.

Sometimes it’s hard to see calluses on their hocks because a “flap” of fur will cover it. Sometimes you have to dig a little bit to find it. I would definitely try to get a closer look to make sure there aren’t sores developing.

It happens. I wouldn’t be overly concerned. It isn’t something that they grow out of necessarily. I always just thought of it as their body craving something.

Thanks everyone.
@Bam Awe, sorry to hear that. Hopefully the shed crazy will end soon for you. I just picked up a furbuster and it’s a must have.

My 6-month old lionhead dwarf occasionally takes a bite out of her regular droppings (not cecotropes) if she poops outside her litter box. A month or two ago, she did this too (probably because she was a baby so still getting used to eating cecotropes) and hasn’t been biting normal droppings since recently. Is this normal? If so, is it only…[Read more]

Hello! My 1 year old french lop started showing pain at the area of his heels 2 days ago. He can’t sit calm and he licks and bite his hind paws more frequently. Everything else seems to be okay, he’s been eating and pooping normally, he is still very playful and doesn’t seem to be in pain while walking and jumping, but i can see it when he tries…[Read more]

Is there anything I could do to ensure she wouldn’t chew it, or would I just need to watch for bite marks and remove it if I see any?

I’ve tried that, but she likes to go in the back, where the hay would be. If I put it closer to the front, she likes to dig in it and would mess that up royally

I’ve tried that, but she destroys them in a heartbeat

First of all, is your bun a single bun?
Second, is the wound located near the site of the shot?
If your bun is housed with, or gets to meet other buns occasionally, his could be a bite wound scab. The wound looks healthy and good, nice and dry. Keep an eye out for excess swelling, redness and/or seepage.
I had a bun that developed four distinct…[Read more]

hi i was wondering if anyone know what is this? It’s not smelly or has any pus. I pat my bunny and suddenly notice this thing. She just got scabies shot 1 month ago, is it possible it’s from the shot? It looked like an open wound but it’s dry and she’s behaving as usual even when i touched it. And it’s only like this one spot

I think keeping things as familiar as possible would be the best thing you could do. If he is an already nervous bun, then it is understandable to be worried about the move. It may take him a bit of time to get used to the new surroundings. Keeping his routine will help too. That way he will know when to expect food, etc.
