you guys won’t believe it! it turned out to be the larvae of a cuterebra fly! they had to sedate her and took it out the same day! We are so grateful to have gone to this vet! It was such a gross bug, when they took it out it was the size of half a loonie! It was huge. they said it happened when she was digging a burrow in the soil, and the fly…[Read more]

Thanks @LBJ10! That makes me feel better, I tend to be such a worry wart with the buns. Also knowing that I don’t have to be trying to avoid interacting with them makes things easier as watching buns is good medicine!

Thank you both so much! He seemed completely fine and was eating regularly, using the bathroom regularly & was active. I ended up emailing the vet a picture and they didn’t seem too concerned but still had me bring him in, just to be sure. The vet confirmed that it does look like he’s been licking the wound and there was a little bit of an…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Is it normal for bunnies to be eating normal droppings? in the forum DIET & CARE 2 years, 9 months ago

That’s normal. Bunnies can get picky sometimes. You can sometimes trick them by “fluffing” the hay and mixing it with a little bit of new stuff. I don’t think that would be related to the poop eating though.

I agree, it’s hard to tell from the photo. But yes, they can turn blue-ish post-neuter.

There was a study that showed it was technically possible for the virus to replicate in their nasal cavities. Keep in mind that they were artificially infected in a lab setting. It should also be noted that none of the rabbits in the experiment exhibited any symptoms. Verdict – Unlikely… but even if they did get the virus from you, it wouldn’t…[Read more]

I have two lionheads.  Walter, from a breeder, occasionally asks for pets but not snuggley.

Boo was a shelter rescue, picked up as a stray.  Does not like contact at all.

Not to say that is typical for the breed, just these two.

I would suggest a digestive support to help with the hair.  These two LOVE Sherwood brand.

I would suggest you ch…[Read more]

Rabbits can molt in patches and its not a sign of anything bad. The skin looks good. If it’s molting, hair will start to grow out within 1-2 weeks. Keep keeping an eye, of course!

I did find this article from house rabbit society: https://rabbit.org/covid-19-2/

Though it is more focused on rabbits transmitting than catching. It did seem to imply that they were asymptomatic though.

    Greetings,

I am new here on the forum, and for a bit have been considering getting a lion-head. I want to introduce myself, but while your reading keep in mind, i’m trying to see if any experienced bun owners have ever had issues with any of the pets I currently have and all that stuff that would be useful to know :). let me tell you a little…[Read more]

I unfortunately caught covid and wondering if I should be worried about Dorian and Miu. I have heard of rare cases of cats or dogs getting sick, but nothing on rabbits so hopefully I haven’t put them at risk. I have been feeding them and petting them (well mostly just Dorian as Miu is mostly pet me with your eyes) Anyone else had to take care of…[Read more]

    Hi all!

My rabbit, Benito, (10 months), got neutered about a week ago and I’ve been checking his neuter wound every day. I’ve had a hard time doing this because he doesn’t let me pick him up but he does know how to stand on his hind legs so that’s how I’ve been checking it. I haven’t noticed any blood or anything but today when I checked it…[Read more]

I’m not sure what Im seeing exactly, but its normal for the scrotal sacs to become blue-ish post neuter. It’s due to hematoma. The sacs dont appear swollen though, which I think they would be if there were a leaking bloodvessel. The ball sacks can swell to the size of golf balls. Do you notice any foul dmell? Does there appear to be seepage? How…[Read more]

i just found this missing patch of hair on my bunny. It is not red or inflamed and doesn’t seem to bother her. Any ideas what it could be? I rescued her in April so this could have already been an issue I just haven’t noticed.
