I’m having the same little problem right now! I don’t have a suggestion for litter, but I would suggest to make sure that the litter doesn’t have any baking soda in it. Some store brands put baking soda in there and it’s not good for the buns.

Howdy! As many of you know our beloved Yesterdays news was discontinued. I wanted to come onto here and see if anybody had any suggestions regarding good rabbit litter.
I have tried the wood stove pellets in the past, and one if my rabbits absolutely despised them.
However, I know some of the pet store brands have baking soda in them and should…[Read more] -

Hi all, so lately my male rabbit Sandy who is neutered has been acting out. Last night he peed on the couch, destroyed a pillow, kicked me in the stomach, and dug his entire litter box out. He was neutered on December 15th if that helps. I don’t know if he’s acting out due to possible fluctuating hormones or maybe because he’s still young? (8 mo…[Read more]

Well done of you to help her! It is unfortunately very common for very young first-time bun mums to not quite grasp the concept of mothering. Very often the kits dont survive because of this. If that should happen, know that you are in no way to blame, it is truly difficult to rear baby buns. It sounds very wise to keep the nest in a dog crate, an…[Read more]

I think it’s so great that you are “writing a book” – in order to fully understand a situation, details, and more details are of the essence.
I’m happy to hear he’s drunk some water and eaten a little! Even pellets, which for some reason often is the last food item a bun goes back to post surgery.
You’re obviously doing great with him.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>My “maybe baby” had her babies, under a pillow on my sofa. I was sad for her. She is just a baby herself. 7 healthy babies that are my responsibility in a house full of Persian cats. They are safe in a Moses basket inside a huge dog cage. Momma bunny does not really care for the mother role because I need to put her…[Read more]

Sorry in advance if this is a double post i think my wifi made my previous attempt disappear 🥲 So, i know this is a commonly asked question but I’m quite paranoid about Eclipse’s hay habits after Rain developed dental issues from refusing to eat it. Right now I give 1/4th cup of alfalfa pellets in the morning all at once, then 1/4th again in the…[Read more]

My dwarf rabbit she’s about 3-4 years old and she has a little knot under her chest near her left arm. Should I be worried?? She’s acting so normal she doesn’t react when I touch it or anything, just act perfectly fine while I’m losing my mind. It’s so hard to find a vet for her. What should I do? 🥺

I’m so sorry about your bunny Rain, truly. It’s really hard when your trying your all and sometimes we just don’t get dealt with the right hand unfortunately, I’ve been there with my prior rabbit Milo. I definitely agree this vet is working hard as well, It’s nice to finally have a vet that is open to new ideas and willing to try different things,…[Read more]

Thanks Bam. I really appreciate your messages as the vets are so vague. They are nice, but the clinic is also the only exotic pet emergency clinic for a large area so they are really busy.
Dorian started pooping again finally, not a lot and they are tiny. But enough I am not worried. They started out really smushy so I did call the vet, he…[Read more]

Dana you are a life saver.
We did a good deep clean of the carpet, left the boxes themselves pretty messy so they smelled like the latrine, and started a switch of litter to Carefresh. Fingers crossed and knock on wood but we’ve been 4 days without a single bit of pee outside of the box. In hindsight I’m not surprised he’d start getting picky…[Read more]

If he’s not had much food he wont poop much. The buprenorphin slows the gut. He needs to move and he needs more food and water. Hydratipn is very important for the gut.
Great that you’ve been able to increase the amount to 60 ml! My Vilde got about 90-100 ml/day, but he was just 1.4 kilos.
I’ve mixed CC with some baby fruit pure (baby smoothie…[Read more]

Managed another feeding, got a full 30ml, so he has had close to 60ml, if I am guessing correcsince he had spit out a lot, but at least at 50ml. He has been eating a little hay and even had several stalks of Cilantro. The problem now is no poops. The stopped sometime after 2 – 3pm (so around 7 – 8 hrs). He has not really moved much during this…[Read more]

I don’t know how things work there, but I agree with Dana. You should try calling right when they open and explain that he is in urgent need of attention. Even if my vet is booked, they have allowed me to drop off first thing in the morning. Then they look at bunny between appointments when they have time.

Thanks @Bam! That makes me feel better. Feeding critical care has been a big challenge. If I can get 10ml if I am lucky. They were struggling to get him to take it at the vets too. I am trying to go for more feedings, but also trying not to do to many as he struggles enough that I am worried about his stitches. He’s eating a little hay, he d…[Read more]

I think it sounds good. Enrofloxacine is a broad-spectrum abx that is effective against many common bacteria that might affect rabbits. Metronidazole is for anaerobic bacteria in the intestine.
Buprenorphin is an opiod and a good pain med for rabbits post abdominal surgery. It can make the rabbit quite out of it though, which under the…[Read more]
