Baby bun is gone

it’s a sad day here.  i just got home from the emerg vet  in guelph where i had to leave my sweet Baby bun for the last time resting in peace. 

she had felt as though she had lost weight recently  but i was not too alarmed since she was eating and pooping.  looking back, she had also stopped canoodling the dog.  but the last couple of days she didnt finish her pellets and finally today she went limp when i was washing her girlie bits so i knew something was wrong.  since its a long weekend here and my vets office was closed we made a trip out of town to an emerg vet that takes exotics and has a good rep with bunnies.  the vet there confirmed that baby’s cancer was back.  when he palpated her he found that she was riddled with internal lumps.  it was her time to go.  my poor girl.  i stayed with her til the end and it was horrible.  i am so sad and i miss her.  here are a couple of videos of her that i love.  i will always remember her this way.  thanks for letting me share.

My heart sinks when I see a new thread in this section. Christine, I am sorry the loss of Baby. You’ve had her a long time. Though so tough, you have given her peace. Hugs to You, Pinky and Bogart! ***BINKY FREE BABY GIRL!** I’ve yet to look at the videos, but I’m sure they’ll put a smile on my face. So THANK YOU for sharing them!

I will miss hearing about her crazy adventures. I’m happy you were able to have so many good years with her tho.

OMG, we are so sad to hear this! It seems to far too many of our furry friends have been leaving for the bridge lately. I know that you must be missing her so much, she was an important part of your life. But at least she had a good and loving mom to take care of her and be with her. OH my goodness BBM!!! *HUGS* I’m devasted!! I just gasped so loud Dave came running. He remembers Baby from her ‘weeing’ on Bogart-in fact she’s famous at my office-those videos were so amazing and cute.
I’m soooo sooo sorry for your loss -she had nothing short of a perfect loving home that any bunny would want. She was one happy bunny and I loved hearing about her on here. She was gorgeous and funny and spunky and loved. I know how devastating this is, I wish I could hug you for real. I’m so sorry.

Oh no BBM, I am so sorry to hear this has happened! Words can’t express my sorrow at Baby’s passing. I don’t think I realized she had been a cancer survivor. I know it had to have been terrible to make that final decision, but she is pain free and young and whole again where she is, and I am sure she is blowing lots of bunny kisses to you.

Babybunsmum, I just heard the news and I am so sorry. I know how much you loved her.

I feel as though many of our buns are an extended family, we get to know them so well, and for me Baby was one of the first I was able to enjoy vicariously over a year ago. I loved your posts, saving many of your videos as you and Baby began to share your life with Pinky. Bogart must be heartbroken as well.

You gave her, and us, time together she may not otherwise have had. Now she is cancer free. She will visit you in your dreams from over the Bridge.

thanks so very much for your words of comfort and candles.  rabbitpam that is a beautiful tribute!  when i was driving home yesterday all i could think about was coming home and logging into binkybunny where i knew you’d all be.  it really is a comfort to be here. 

dispite that she only ate a couple of her pellets and moderately nibbled her hay yesterday she still gobbled raisins all the way to the emerg vet in guelph.  sweetie.  always room for a few last snacks i guess

I’m so sorry Christine, this is such terrible news. Baby bun was adorable and famous around my office too. She obviously had an amazingly happy life and had the priviliage of being very much loved.

Oh not Baby! I’m sooooo sorry to read this. She was such a sweet little girl. I loved the video of Baby hopping on Bogart from way back. I’m glad she’s out of her misery as hard as it is. Take care.

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss – I definitely agree with everyone else that I just loved Baby and hearing all the stories about her! When I saw the news I had to tell my husband too, he loved Baby too (he also knows Baby bun from the peeing on Bogart…its one of my favorite stories )

Give Bogart and Pinky a comfort pet from me and a *hug* for you, know that baby will always live on in all the stories you’ve shared about her.

I’m so terribly sorry about the loss of your beautiful Baby. thank you v.much!   i am so glad that i have lots of pics and videos of my baby bun.  i really miss her!  she was my bun bun for 9 yrs so it’ll take a while for me to stop calling out greetings to her when i get home.  bogart misses her too… pinky is so well litter trained that no bb’s are ever left for him to snorf lke baby used to leave

BBM, I’m so sorry…I had no idea Baby had been sick… I’ll always remember the photo of the guilty (not!) Baby next to the gnawed-up banana! My sincerest condolences to you and Pinky and Bogart.

thanks lightchick. baby was an old gal who had a cancerous mass removed from her belly in 2007. after her surgery she was cancer free andbinky-bound for some time. she went onto haev eye problems i 2008 and i was always suspicious that the eye problems were due to an underlying health issue – namely returning cancer. but her teeth were in great shape and her physical exams were all ok (from our reg vet and a specialist). the last time she was at the vet to have her eyes looked at and her tear ducts flushed her wee heart stopped while she was under so that was it for poking around with her eyes. she never did develope any lumps that protruded like the one she had surgically removed in ’07 but it didnt surprise me that the cancer returned. i suppose a physical exam may have caught the cancer sooner but since the lumps were all internal there would sadly have been not much to do but palliative care given her age anyways. sigh. i’m still so so happy that the first lump was removed… she had such a happy last couple of years! my sweet lil squishy girl.
