ELCC started the topic Rabbit Messy Bums in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 3 months ago
Both my rabbits have had problem with having a messy behind for a while now. It seems they are leaving their cecotropes as I am frequently finding these on the floor.
I have 2 mini lops, they are 5 years & 10 months old and both female. They have both been neutered.
It seemed to start after they had been to the vets for a skin problem they…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss, it sounds like she had so much going on and it finally just became too much for her. 🙁
Buns always seem to get sick over holiday weekends! You did a wonderful job caring for Topper, I’m sorry for the people around you that just don’t get it. We get it!

DanaNM replied to the topic How to clean oil from paws and coat in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 3 months ago
I agree that cornstarch is a better option to start with, but is there any visible oil? or is it mostly a smell? I worry that rinsing the dawn off would be hard, and then ingesting the soap might cause more problems.

I smeared banana on his paw, Luna licked it off, lol.
He’s pretty fussy with food, he’s never been one to eat from my hand and usually only eats once food is on the ground. He won’t take a treat after he’s back on the ground, he’d rather sulk. I always intended to syringe train him with water but obviously I never got around to it. Not helpful…[Read more]

It’s great that you’re vigilant, especially since this is a new rabbit!

Luckily both those meds are sweet-tasting but I realise Apollo isn’t Luna who would take them willingly.
I think my approach with him would still be to train him to take syringe without you having to handle him. Maybe do a few practices with just water? You’ll have to be annoying toward him but weigh up if that stress is greater or less than how…[Read more]

I’m sorry for you loss. It sounds like you cared for Guppy very much. As the others said, she was very young and young bunnies can be so fragile.

Clara was beautiful! I agree, you did a very good job with her and you got her to 12. That’s a good, long life for a bunny.

Sometimes the only noticeable symptom is “dribbling” urine.

Do you know what the oil was? In general, rabbits should not be bathed. There are some exceptions though. A butt bath may be warranted if the rabbit has poopy butt. A bath may also be warranted if something dangerous got onto them somehow. This is why I’m asking what the oil is. If it isn’t anything toxic, you could try a dry bath first. You…[Read more]

Can your vet do it? That would probably be safer. Shaving is actually good because it is the moisture constantly trapped in the fur that causes the problem. If it is shaved, then things can at least air out.

Does he like Critical Care at all? Or do you always have to syringe feed? Some bunnies will lick it off a spoon or plate. You could try mixing it into that.

Welcome to BinkyBunny, BunnyMama! Since this is an old post, you likely won’t get a response from the OP, so I will lock the topic and you are free to start a new one!
Rabbits do have tiny pads at the end of their toes, though they are generally hard to see unless you part the fur. If you have any concerns on whether what you’re seeing may not be…[Read more]

Hi I see your post is old but I just discovered the same looking pink bump between my rabbits toes . She’s also holding her paw up it’s obviously causing her some pain did you ever determine what these lumps are?

Yes, I use the emojis on my phone when I post from my phone. I agree the choice of emojis is a bit limited otherwise.
