Hi, my male rabbit Gippy has been peeing on some of his rabbit beds, but only like a small dot of urine at a time? (So like he doesn’t to a “full” amount of pee on the beds?

Do you think that because both my rabbit live outside 😥 with a litter box available but there is no one to stop them from doing it anywhere else. And also that they hang out a lot in another outdoor cage that has no litter boxes.

Do you think its a big ask for Gippy to remember when and when not to do stuff outside of the litter box?

        Btw he is neutered.

        Thanks

How old is Gippy? It could be a symptom of a UTI, so rule that out first.

Accidental leaking while napping is typical for senior rabbits.

My bridge bunny Breintje started to lose a drop every now and then when he became 7. He fell into a really deep sleep after his massage, and sometimes he woke himself up because he lost a few drops.

Our vet said that the muscles become weaker as they age, and if they’re really relaxed they may have an accident. After we ruled out UTI issues he told me to take Breintjes relaxation accidents as a compliment and to use a towel when massaging him.

I agree it could be a UTI. If you rule that out, it could just be marking because it’s a soft surface. Some bunnies can’t really have beds because they just pee on them.

Gippy is only 3 1/2. Maybe its just marking because my other rabbit has been on it a lot? Its interesting because has only done it on this one, their favourite..?

I wouldn’t expect marking because he’s neutered. Marking is often a line of droplets because they actively spray it while kicking their legs backwards.

He’s a pretty young rabbit, too young to have these senior moments, so I’d call the vet to rule out a UTI.

Oh, I thought it might of just been accidents….

UTI is a infection right? I just checked out the UTI symptoms and the only connnection is “changing in litter box habits”. No pain, blood etc.

Sometimes the only noticeable symptom is “dribbling” urine.
