My rabbits only a year and a half and he’s been doing this since I got him! The first time he did it I had only owned him a few days and thought he was dead! I take it as a good sign that he’s relaxed and comfortable! Also, I’m very impressed with how old and healthy she is!! 🙂

If a bun eats a lot of fresh veg and grass, the poop will be dark. The same happens to wild rabbit poop when spring comes with new grass.

I think if you’re removing pellets completely you need to be feeding a wide variety of leafy greens to make up nutritional content. It sounds like he’s a good hay eater, it’s possible that too much fresh wheat grass is causing smaller damp poops. I’ve also heard grinding/chattering across a room. Usually even if that’s loud, you can still tell the difference between loud tooth purring and unhappy grinding. An unhappy grinding is a loud distinct crunching.

You’re right to be worried about different sitting positions though. My rabbits only sit in their litter tray to eat hay, poo, pee and then leave.
