To overly simplify your options, you are deciding between 1) giving yourself more work, responsibility, etc. (i.e., getting a second rabbit) or 2) relieving yourself of work (i.e., rehoming). While cold-hearted to frame it like that, I hope this framing captures how very different these decisions are, not only on their impacts for Ralph, but also…[Read more]

I am struggling with this debate at the moment if I should rehome my rabbit Ralph I originally adopted him and his previous owners didn’t want him anymore or if I should get him a friend.
i absolutely love animals and I have quite a few and the other people living in my house are not huge fans of them however they are okay with them. I o…[Read more] -

Today went really well, and I got some beautiful pictures! They were a lot less excited than yesterday.
Yesterday Owen was humping excessively, but today there was barely any humping. It was mostly equal between the two of them. It was only in the first half of the date, afterwards they both were too tired or lazy, whichever applies 🙂
And now…[Read more]

Binky and his brother were surrendered to the animal shelter when the family who had them realized they were boys (they wanted girls). I don’t know when he was weaned but I will try your hay idea and see if it helps 🙂

AlyssaP started the topic Bonded Bunnies – Agression in the forum BONDING 4 years, 3 months ago
Hi everyone!
I have 2 bunnies (male and female and both sterilized) that have been perfectly bonded for 2 years. This past week my one has had food aggression and ends up nipping and grunting at the other when food arrives – making the one terrified and scared to come and eat. Whereas previously they ate together as a perfect pair.
Absolutely…[Read more]

First day of bathroom bonding, this is the setup:

Owen was humming and mounting Molly almost continuously. The poor girl couldn’t get a break. I stopped it 2 times because I saw the beginning of circling. The third time I put them together side by side on the floor and petted them, then I returned them to the living room.
The good part was…[Read more]

hey everyone! Our bunny kiwi unfortunately broke his toe on his rear left foot (X-ray below) , I noticed it right away and got him into the vet. I speculate that it happened from possibly get his toe snagged during a excited jump in his x pen. Anyways, they determined that it needs to be amputated because a splint would likely not yield any…[Read more]

Okay, I know it hasn’t been very long, but I think I got some new insight on the problem between Tess and Penelope that I’d love some advice on. I put the girls back in the kitchen (neutral territory, and smaller than where they were before so they have to interact a bit more). There was a tunnel and a hide, and Tess seemed to immediately assume…[Read more]

Another possible reason for why Owen was humping excessively: this was the first time that Bas wasn’t there. Maybe Owen is trying to assert his position as dominant male.

Hmm, about the excessive humping: this was the first time that we were bonding them when Bas wasn’t there. He’s away for work and an event for a week. Maybe Owen is trying to assert his position as top male. He’s been extra noisy too: rattling the bars and throwing toys around.

MissyBun replied to the topic Peeing and pooping everywhere in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 3 months ago
Thanks for the reply! The behaviour yes, the vet confirmed it. However, she peed on me in the morning, the pee was thick and lighter than yesterday so i took her to the vet and they said it’s either a UTI or she might be infected with e cuniculi given her history. She’s getting her blood and urine tested. The vet doesn’t want to put her on…[Read more]

Another good thing about flat fleece mats (imitation sheepskin used to prevent bedsores in humans) is that, at least in our experience, they are the only rabbit comfort material we have ever found that does not become chewed. When we first had rabbits, we naively bought them fleece-covered foam-rubber dog beds. . .a big mistake, as they were soon…[Read more]

If Binky is a rescue and was previously in a foster home prior to moving in with you, you may want to check with his foster family to see if the size and amount of his poops are “normal” for him. If Binky came from a breeder, he was probably raised together with other members of his litter, so it may not be possible for the breeder to isolate…[Read more]

Maybe haha! Glenn went straight to thumping lol.
They seem to be getting on okay through the bars, lots of mirroring and super dead bunny flops/sleeping … Could be them trying to be jerks to eachother lol but at the least they are pretty chilled out in eachothers presence. Glenn is still popping everywhere though, including places he usually…[Read more]
