They weren’t slipper exactly… but slip-on shoes I wore around the house. Definitely not appropriate for what I was doing that day (walking around outside in the mud), but I didn’t notice until I was getting out of my car. I just had to be extra careful not to step somewhere I would lose my shoe.
I think I might have stepped outside a couple of…[Read more]

Irish (Gaeilge) is the 3rd language that I really wanted to learn ๐ It becomes so much fun if you actually want to learn something, instead of being pushed by school or by parents.
I’ve been listening to Celtic music more lately, and I wanted to know more about Irish. It’s a very poetic language which is difficult to translate. So much gets lost…[Read more]

Thumper, my bunny has been acting up this past few months not wanting to eat her hay too. She is going through a yoyo-ing between gut slow-down and stasis. It is driving me up the walls too!
Kotton went for a checkup on her teeth, her vet said there was a sharp spur and some minor lesion on her tongue. They fixed it and then she went into a full…[Read more]

hophophop replied to the topic Picky bunny obsessed with alfafa! Help! in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 2 months ago
Dana, she is not even eating alfafa now.
I just got more meds for her so we have been keeping her on meloxicam, reglan and simenthicone for the weekend. She started rejecting critical care Friday, and has been surviving on fresh greens, minimal pellets (1/8 total, broken into two feedings), and very little alfafa (a handful altogether in a day).…[Read more]

I love the sound of rain (as long as it’s not too loud) but not thunder

BunnyLass568 replied to the topic The daftest habits: which do your bunnies have? in the forum THE LOUNGE 4 years, 2 months ago
Not sure if this counts but Blossom is a bit of a climber, she doesn’t try to escape her X-pen but she likes to hop on top of her hidey house. She fell off it today but she was fine and hop back on top of it. Thumper likes to be held with his face turn towards mine and his butt facing my hip/stomach. Not upside down or in a trance position, the…[Read more]

Ellie from The Netherlands replied to the topic Spayed Rabbit Humping Objects in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 2 months ago
I know that some other animals can start to hump objects when they have an irritation in their ano-genital area. But I’m not sure if that’s something that happens in bunnies too.

What a mess… But I’m glad that it’s something that can be fixed (wink wink, nudge nudge… ehm… I’ll see myself out…)
Sadly it happens sometimes that adoption places advertise with fixed rabbits, and you get a surprise when you take them home ๐
A friend of mine is very fond of rescuing and she brought her male bun to a shelter to be…[Read more]

Ellie from The Netherlands replied to the topic Peeing and pooping everywhere in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 2 months ago
I don’t have anything to add about the peeing issues, but I read that she often has stomach problems.
Discuss it with your vet first, but this is what helped our bridge bunny Breintje: switching to grain-free pellets. Breintje often had mushy poop which smelled rather bad: a bit sour and even eggy at times. Switching pellets improved his…[Read more]

There are some ideas here: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Hay#Encouraging_your_rabbit_to_eat_hay
While odd to ask, a picture of your set-up, including how/where hay is offered would be helpful. Sometimes how you present hay can be very important: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rabbits/comments/tzl60n/care_importance_of_presentation_pt_2/

Youโre not a bad bun owner lol. I have a house full of senior bunnies and cannot recall when last had blood test done. I def understand the reluctance to take them out of their comfort zone.
Itโs one of those dilemmas being an attentive bun carer. Debating whether to take a rabbit to vet for our peace of mind vs the possible stress of that cau…[Read more] -

They did a thorough check of his back teeth? Hmm… Well, have you tried fresh grass at all? Perhaps he would like that instead of dry hay.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Floor cleaner? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 2 months ago
Professional pest control companies claim to be “safe for pets”. But I think they are referring to cats and dogs. It may not be safe for sensitive animals like birds and small critters. So yes, I would ask specifically what they are using. Even then, I would be wary about treating areas your bunnies have access to. Spraying under kitchen cabinets…[Read more]
