    Thanks for the info there!

I am now not sure if he is in pain again i. e his metacam has worn off or hes just sleepy cause its that time of day. I am thinking if giving him a second dose of metacam to be on the safe side and make sure he continues to eat ect till tomorrow morning – it turns out the good rabbit woman at the non specialist vet…[Read more]

It does look a bit sludgy.

Common dosage of metacam is 0.3 up to 1.5 mg (for severe pain) per kilo body weight and day. It can be divided into two doses and given 12 hours apart. I dont know Glenn’s weight, but if he is 2 kilos and you want to give him 0.5 mg/kilo, it’s 0.67 ml per 24 hours or 0.33 twice per 24 hours. I usually start with that…[Read more]

Thanks that’s actually really helpful! And comforting to know that I’m not alone in the small space struggle with buns lol. I wish I could let them free-roam the whole apartment but my boyfriend will be bringing his high-prey-drive dog so we have to keep them separate.

Some questionable wees in an unusual-ish place… Although hes bonding at the moment (paused for now). And one pic is his total poop output in the last 12 hours since the vet (excluding the poop he did in his carry case at the vet)

    Yay! 😃

GI stasis actually means that the intestinal movement has stopped. The term is used  loosely to describe any kind of gut slowdown that results in discomfort. The discomfort often comes from gas, which in turn tends to be caused by the slowdown. It’s quite common, especially when a rabbit is molting. Stress can cause it, rapid shifts in…[Read more]

Thanks for the help and info!

He is still unwell but better. He’s moving around more and nibbling on toys. He had another poo last night but he had loud gut sounds last night afterwards, I gave him more smithecone a bit of belly massage and he ate a fair amount of grass and some carrot tops, he has since pooped a couple times, small poops but…[Read more]

A neutral space to live in over a weekend, or just a couple hours a day? The problem is both of my buns live outside in a hutch, my parents won’t let them sleep inside overnight. They also think that the buns are perfectly happy with each other and definitely don’t need to be rebonded in a neutral area!:(

Thank you, this made me feel better. I haven’t noticed any more sneezing and he is still eating and drinking normally. There is still a small amount of watery discharge right under his nose, but it looks just like condensation from his breathing. I was becoming less concerned, but then he woke me up tonight at 1:30 am by thumping. He was in the c…[Read more]

I just wanted to let everyone know flopsy sadly passed a couple years ago, I now have another bunny named Winnie, she was given away to a zoo by people that didn’t want her. She had babies at the zoo and then eventually made her way to me. She is quite scared and a bit mean if you do something she doesn’t like but she is definitely getting more…[Read more]

Thank you all for the information. I made a snap judgment with my gut last night and gave him both.

He’s doing much, much better! He’s pooping plenty, he ate greens, he’s eaten hay. He no longer looks like he’s in pain, either. I had to stay with him 11 hours straight, but it was worth it.

Out of curiosity, when this happens, is it GI Statis, or…[Read more]

Bonding is still ongoing, and they still don’t agree on who’s boss. But after each bout of chasing and mounting they come together for a snuggle. The love is there, but they need to work on the details a bit more.

This is one of my new favourite pics of them:

I had a bunny that was very stressed by fireworks. He would pull his fur out when stressed and he would have bald spots after the 4th of July. The only thing that would calm him was putting him in the bed with me while I watched TV. If your bunny doesn’t like to lay on the bed or couch with you, then you could do as Dana suggested. You can sit…[Read more]

Camomile flowers are very palatable. Most rabbits seem to like them. You could also make “tea” by brewing camomile in hot water and letting it cool. Don’t use tea for humans since it can contain other ingredients.

You could ask your vet about melatonin. I was able to find 1mg tablets at a health food store, but then I had to make it into a paste.…[Read more]

Hello! Great question. Sand is definitely a bad idea because it’s a health risk. They could ingest it or breath it in as you said. It could get in their eyes or ears and possibly cause an infection. The box part of the sandbox is a good idea but instead of sand, you can fill it with shreds of plain, untreated paper or a bunch of rabbit safe toys a…[Read more]

Hi! My bunny ADORES digging, so I’ve thought about getting him a little sandbox to play in, so he doesn’t dig on carpets and blankets. However, I’m not sure if sand is dangerous, since it could possibly damage their respiratory system. He’s also a long-haired breed, so is the sand damaging to his hair? So, should I do it? Any tips?

Hi everyone, thanks for responding and for the concern! I ended up taking her to an emergency vet hospital. She’s back home and doing better. Still not drinking water which I’ll call about. She may still have subcutaneous fluids in her system.

the litter box is at one corner of the pen, and he usually pees at the other 3 corners, or right beside the litter box. he used to pee at the 2 farthest corners from the litter box which are soft surfaces, but now he’s peeing nearer to the litter box which are hard surfaces.

i also realise that after i clean the litter box he will mark i…[Read more]
