I think I posted some info about possible megacolon in your other thread. Do her symptoms line up with possible megacolon? (she has the markings associated with it). Often it manifests as chronic or recurring stasis when buns are between 1-3 years old after a minor stressor or trigger.

Glad he’s doing better! A lot of buns have mysterious tummy trouble when molting or timed with the seasons. He could have had a mass of fur or other material that he was working through.

LBJ10 – but it was 2 months ago that this started. Is it common that a bout of GI stasis can turn into a long term GI problem?

How quickly was this shift and how long has it been going on? I’m curious as to whether this just started today or yesterday, or whether it’s been going on for a while?
If you’ve noticed a gradual loss of appetite, she could have a dental problem that’s bothering her. Eating less hay would make her poops smaller as well.

DanaNM replied to the topic Bonding going well? in the forum BONDING 4 years, 2 months ago
Thank you for their history, super helpful! Unfortunately most vets don’t know much about bonding, even the great vets! And yes there is tons of conflicting info on the internet!
I think you probably just moved a bit too fast with the bonding process initially, and possibly with the transition from neutral to their final home. Did you have a…[Read more]

Many people will add a few additional litter boxes in those types of situations. 🙂 The smaller boxes are usually fine when they are a ‘secondary’ box.

Hi Venkata, thanks for the info and welcome to the forum!
This thread is specifically about Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHDV2) in North America, so I don’t think your information will be easy to find for people who are interested. You are welcome to create a new topic and share your information again if you would like to though. I think it would…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Recommendation for a carrier for two buns in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 4 years, 2 months ago
I have seen some hard-sided cat carriers that have both a top and side entry that seem great for buns! I think if you search “top loading cat carrier” you will find some good options.

It has always been given by the vets and dosage as per his weight.
I am fully aware of the dosage and importance of reaching out to only rabbit savvy vets. Apologies if my words created confusion.

He has even travelled with me and stayed at different cities as…[Read more] -

You can give her simethicone baby gasdrops, 0.5 -1 ml once per hour. Try to make her move around a little. Fragrant herbs (parsley, mint, dill, cilantro etc) might spark an appetite.

Oops litters do happen. It’s just intentional breeding that this sute doesn’t want to support.
I’m so glad they’re doing better! It is very difficult to care for baby buns, they are (as yiu have noticed) very fragile. It is extra difficult in places where there are no rabbit vets. You are obviously doing a great job.
Thank you very much for your…[Read more]

Last vet visit I used my old cat carrier, size wise it was fine, but getting both of them in was a nightmare. Anyone have a carrier they would recommend? ideally looking for something with the option of top loading. Any advice on getting two buns into a carrier welcome as well!

Thank you, I wasn’t breeding. I happened to have 2 rescued bunnies who cannot be spayed or neutered because of lack of rabbit savy vets anywhere around or near my state. They are free roam in two different rooms and one day accidentally the rooms were not properly closed which allowed bunny to get into pregnancy. And I’m keeping them all and…[Read more]

If she does have a molar spur, then that could definitely be what’s causing this.

If this is actually scabies/sarcoptic mange, then it will be difficult to treat. The most effective treatments are not safe for rabbits. As Bam suggested, Moxidectin can be used. So far, it seems to be safe since it’s in the same family of anti-parasitics.
