Thank you again everyone. The infection continued to spread in her body, going towards her good leg, throughout her privates. Throughout this whole time her spirit was strong but I knew she was uncomfortable-the infected parts were hard and her fur was slothing off, she was very tolerant of me helping her bath her bottom. She kept strong still…[Read more]

I’m not sure if this would damage the sheepette but maybe you could try using a dustpan brush and/or a squeegee to remove some of that hay and fur gunk before it goes in the washer. Worked well with my blankets but I’ve never used sheepette. I would first shake it out then brush off the big pieces of hay then squeegee off the dust and fur. Als…[Read more]

So great that he’s doing so much better! It is a good sign if he starts eating more with more pain meds, it’s so important that he starts eating so things get going again.

Meg started the topic Home laser therapy for arthritic buns? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
Hi there! I’m thinking what more we can do to help Teddy, who’s getting mobility problems in his legs from his arthritis, and I understand laser therapy can be helpful. He does poorly with vet visits so I’m looking into maybe buying a machine we could use at home, and wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this?
For example, h…[Read more]

Owen is out in his pen again now that he has more Metacam. He stayed mostly in his hutch for the last days. He also seems more relaxed, attempting a few flops.
A pic of Owen and Molly flopping together again:

I’m so sorry, Ellie! I hope Owen feels all better soon — the signs you’ve described sound very promising.
We use a lap-hammock approach to force-feeding meds/CC, which I’ll share in case helpful (my male partner can do it, so maybe Bas can too?). It’s done sitting on the edge of a bed or couch, with a stool, trash can, low table, or other t…[Read more]

Short update: we upped the Metacam a little and he became more active and ate better within 2 hours. Not sure whether we should be happy about that or very worried 😟 Let’s see how things develop and what happens when we reduce the dose after he’s eating well again.
Molly is a pretty good guide for how her brother feels: when he was at his worst…[Read more]

Hey there, just trying to figure out how this works. I’ve been posting occasionally on this forum for about 2 years, I think. Still, all of my new threads don’t show up and go as awaiting moderation. Most recently I posted one in the Diet & Care forum trying to get advice on syringes for administering critical care. It was kind of an urgent…[Read more]

candi9 started the topic Stray Bunny – What Breed?? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
I found a stray bunny and I think it’s a full grown mixed breed but I thought what if it’s a developing flemish giant or similar? Because he/she has very large ears. Anyway, if he/she is developing I want to make sure I am feeding it appropriately versus an adult diet.
Can anyone tell what breed this is? And/or any way for a novice to tell if…[Read more]

I love hearing these responses! I should say that my girl doesn’t have a lot going on inside or her head so maybe she just likes the sensation of it. I wish I could post videos more easily, @AmberJox, because I have plenty. such a weird and hilarious thing but a pleasure to watch!

If its just a few moments ago (not like, weeks), I’d just let him calm down by himself, then after a while, I’d compensate him with a yummy treat, like a small piece of apple or sprig of parsley or what you have.

The injection antibiotics didn’t work. The infection came back with a vengeance around her privates and moving towards her good leg. Her body was dying from the inside. We didn’t want her to feel like she had to fight anymore. She joined her husbun yesterday morning. Till the very end she enjoyed her oatmeal treat.

Hey so a few moments ago my rabbit Jinx got scared cause my cat got scared and chased him, I think she was playing anyway he’s hiding upstairs right now, and everytime I try and get near him he thumps at me and runs away, he looks fine other then being scared, I’m just wondering what I can do for him and I’m also worried that his relationship with…[Read more]

She has picked up on litterbox training fast once I added a second box. Could have been possibly trained before.
She prefers the box of hay compared to the aspen wood shavings and hay mix. So I might just use hay, albeit it won’t soak up the pee as well, might add a bottom layer of wood, we will see. Have to make an actual woodbox now or go buy a…[Read more]
