DanaNM replied to the topic Playpen area litter question in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 1 month ago
So, if the play area is close to her cage and she is able to go into the cage during play time, then you probably don’t need to add a second litter box. If you notice she starts toileting in one area of the pen though or is pooping and peeing a lot in the pen, you can add a box there.
Keep in mind that when she hits puberty at 4-6 months her…[Read more]

Gas pain can cause a rabbit to go off of their food and behavior normally. As prey animals, rabbits hide their symptoms. What treatment is your bun on for stasis and bloating? Is your vet rabbit savvy? Many things can cause stasis and gas issues, aside from cancer, so I would want to rule out everything else first. Can you also describe her d…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Need litter suggestion for Charlie in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 1 month ago
What about carefresh? I used to use it before I switched to pine pellets and it works well. Maybe not quite as good on odor control but still pretty good and it’s paper based and has no smell.

I agree with Bam that his teeth should be checked. Eating selectivity is often the main symptom of a dental issue.

DanaNM replied to the topic should I screen for EC in Bun Jovi? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
He’s still doing OK, but yesterday was not a great arthritis day, even though he had several good days in a row before that. He will often get up, try to move a bit, and then seemingly get frustrated if he cant get his legs underneath him correctly. If I’m nearby I help him a bit by giving him something to brace against, but he also seems to get a…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic New Bunny Momma – question in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
My bun Myra is at least part Californian and she isn’t too big, so we think she might have some Florida white crossed in. Himalayan’s aren’t as common. 🙂

The faces smushed together is too cute!!
Freya is a hardcore flopper and I finally managed to get a decent pic of it! Most of the time i can’t get to my phone because I’m holding her bum or legs to stop her from falling off the sofa :’)

That is TOO too cute, literally a couple meant to be <3
I will most definitely be bothering @DanaNM with bonding advice but thanks for documenting Dorian and Miu’s journey in so much detail! I read through your bonding journal other night so I’ve already had a few questions answered by that post and I’m about 5 days into prebonding so wish me luck!!!

Sometimes it’s just better to “start over”, so I think shaving was a good idea. If you see the fleas return, definitely get some Revolution or Advantage.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Are silicone molds safe for bunnies? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
Baking treats in silicone is fine. But yes, probably not a good idea to let them chew on the molds themselves. Bunnies like remote control buttons, so I’m sure a silicone mold would be tasty to them as well!

It sounds like it could be an injury to her mouth. Hopefully it’s just soft tissue and she didn’t break a tooth when she fell.

Does she have a cylindrical shaped body? That is very characteristic of Himalayan bunnies. They have the same gene as the Californian breed to give them those cold sensitive markings, but they are smaller.

Bunniesareamazing replied to the topic Why is my bunny having seizures? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
Yes I agree, many people have informed me about the accuracy of the tests and my vet knows as well. She still wanted to send a test in just to see more because the previous ones didn’t really have a lot of data. She said we should treat for it when she has flare ups as it isn’t good to go on long term treatment. I did ask her about the eye pro…[Read more]
