My approx 13 week rabbit is litter trained in the cage. I managed this in one week and im quite proud. But because she is not able to free roam at this time, I have an awesome waterproof playpen. However, for zoomies and room, I haven’t put a small litter pan in. So she poops and pees freely. I don’t want her to be confused. Should I implement this in the play area. Obviously If she has to go, she goes. But I want the same result. I’m just restricted on space. Thanks 😊

So, if the play area is close to her cage and she is able to go into the cage during play time, then you probably don’t need to add a second litter box. If you notice she starts toileting in one area of the pen though or is pooping and peeing a lot in the pen, you can add a box there.

Keep in mind that when she hits puberty at 4-6 months her litter training might go out the window. Hormones will often make rabbits lose their litter box habits, but they will return after she is spayed.

I can relate to the litter training going out the window while she still pees in her litter box the minute I let her out of her playpen she leaves a trail of poops behind. Easy to find her or see where she’s been lol she’s at the 4 month mark.
