Oh great 😃 How lovely that he enjoyed having his ears examined! Ear infections tend to cause considerable pain, so it’s not likely he would’ve been cooperative if there were a problem.

It could be just that his lop-like genes are making themselves known, even though 1.5 years is a bit late in the game.

I recommend you try to feel around his ears, esp at the base near the cheeks. Feel for signs of pain (withdraws and tries to avoid your fingers) and for lumps. Also take a look inside his ears to see if they’re “dirty”. Look at…[Read more]

If you can find it, Standlee chopped straw is the way to go.

Comes in a large compressed bag and is SO much easier to work with than regular straw.

If you have a feed store near you, it’s typically sold for chicken coops.

There is regular straw and some with zeolite, so be sure to get the regular stuff.

Sherwood also has dietary supplement treats.  Walter and Boo go CRAZY for their digestive support.  They get one every night and Boo will just about take your finger with it!😁

I have loved all the Binky Bunny toys we’ve gotten.  High quality!

    Oh, how wonderful! 🥰

I looked up Vetericyn Plus, sounds like a great product! Could be very useful for sore hock buns, so thank you very much for this tip!

It’s great to hear he seems so comfortable now!

Hey there!  I just wanted to give a quick update.  Teddy’s doing well, all things considered!  😀  His skin/fur is much better after some adjustments.  We did the Corona ointment for a while and his skin did stay intact, but the oily-ness of it got all into his fur and led to more matting and, relatedly or not, his bald patches just kept grow…[Read more]

Thank you so much for updating, Dana!  I’m SO glad you found a much better vet — woohooo!!  That will make such a difference.  I hope the shave helps too (Teddy is rockin’ the same these days), plus the increased pain meds.  And good for him for not losing weight!   Wonderful about the new recovery food.

That’s an interesting idea actually, I might do that, if anything just because I know she does love grass. I looked into that water additive and I’m not sure it would work. I read comments on there saying it makes the water taste like bleach. 🙁 I felt bad thinking of making her water taste bad. That stuff (the body and waste odor eliminator) is a…[Read more]

Hello- Max is about 1.5 years old. Recently we’ve noticed that one of his ears occasionally falls. It’s usually when he is stretched out, laying…is this cause for concern or is it normal? If it’s normal, what does it mean?  His mom was a huge bunny with lop-like ears and his dad looks a lot like him.  Thank you!

Can you get grass seeds and grow your own indoors?

It does sound like it could be “honking”! My bun sounds like a little pig when he honks… more like an “oink” lol

Would the straw be just for bedding? I think most people just use extra timothy hay so they have food as well. Either way, I would look for a local feed shop where you could buy a bale.

No, they would still fight — even two fixed rabbits will fight if they are incompatible. To maximize the likelihood and stability of a bond between two rabbits, both rabbits need to be at least 1mo post-spay/neuter and they should go through a bonding process, which may take a couple weeks to months. There are some matches that are incompatible…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Do you wet your horse/wood litter or keep it pelleted? in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years, 9 months ago

I put a very fluffy layer of hay on top of the pellets for my buns to make them easier on their feet. I use a screen as well (under the hay), but that’s more for ease of cleaning.

Hmmm how long have they been bonded? Sometimes in a newly bonded pair the habits get worse for a while and then gradually improve.

What type of flooring do you have around? Sometimes buns (especially females) will pee on anything soft. I had one bun that could not have any blankets or beds of any kind because she would just pee on them!

    If you…[Read more]
