How has Teddy been doing with the tramadol? I’m going to ask my vet about the dose concentrations, I’m very curious! I know she wanted to start us off low so we had room to increase as needed, so that could explain it.

DanaNM replied to the topic How to maintain appetite for hay? in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years, 3 months ago
She’s very young, right? Personally I would make sure she has pellets and timothy available at all times for now (if she’s still under 6 months). When she’s a bit older you can start reducing the amount of pellets she gets to encourage hay eating.
Presenting hay in a variety of ways can also encourage her to try it (stuffed in toys, toilet paper…[Read more]

Mom buns only feed the babies a couple times a day, so it is quite normal to not see her spend a lot of time with them. If you check the babies bellies you can see if they are being fed.
I’m not an expert, but I think it’s also OK (and even recommended) to handle the babies daily to help them get used to human touch and to make sure they are all…[Read more]

Sometimes a change in location triggers the bun to decide they want their litter box in a new area, or them temporarily mark the area. If the peeing outside the box continues, try moving the litter box to that area. 🙂

Caring for a sick bun is soooo exhausting, and adding another in the mix is not helpful! Miu you better snap out of it!
It’s really great he’s starting to eat more on his own and is pooping more!
I wouldn’t worry too much about the lunge. It’s possible they may need a bit of work to rebond, but in the cases we’ve seen here on the forum when a…[Read more]

Sometimes when buns get obsessed with something the best strategy is to block access to it entirely and distract them with something else until they forget about it. Buns often have “projects” that they will work on. My bun Myra goes through phases of couch-chewing obsession, so we block off the couch with an x-pen when we aren’t supervising. We…[Read more]

Poor baby! The best thing you can do is give her lots of time to settle in without handling her. Ideally she could be let out to exercise without being picked up, and she should have at least a week to settle in to her housing before you try to interact with her much. She sounds like she was from a very scary place.
At 6 years old, it is very…[Read more]

Wonderful that he’s back to eating! Its just normal if he’s not yet eating quite as much as he usually does, it seems like he’s getting there!
I just meant Dana no doubt will offer great advice as soon as she sees this and has the opportunity to write. She’s a huge lot more qualified to give advice on bonding matters than I am. I just wanted to…[Read more]

Thanks @Bam! I don’t see @DanaNM Note on the behavior Miu is displaying and what to do… but I am very sleep deprived, so apologies if it’s in plain sight! Maybe you meant the part about taking home from the vet? As he is home not sure.
I haven’t seen any negative behavior yet today, but she’s been mostly hiding in a box and acting a little…[Read more]

Dusty Buns is exceptionally adorable!
He’s also being a perfectly normal young bun. At nearing 3 months, he’s coming into bunny adolescence, aka bun puberty. It’s great that he used to be perfectly litter trained – this means what’s going on now is due to a hormonal storm. He can’t help it and neither can you.
Your best bet is to bear with him…[Read more]

This is Dusty Buns! He is a dwarf Lionhead and almost 3 months old:) He won’t stop getting into the couch!! And I’m scared he will get himself stuck!! I thought I was doing everything right. He is part free roam. we only put him in the play pen at night and since I’m home all the time I let him free roam around the house. He has been very well…[Read more]

Thank you for rescuing Emma!
I dont belive she hates you. I think she just doesn’t know that you can be trusted. I think you can convince her, slowly but steadily. With the emphasis on slowly.
I found a fully adult bun in the woods back in the day, my avatar, Bam. He pretty much sat still under the coffee table for a whole year before he -as it…[Read more]

So we rescued a bunny from a livestock market, her name is Emma and we were told she is six years old. We have had lots of experience with rabbits some of our rabbits were less domestic but I have never seen a rabbit this bad, you can’t pick her up safely, she is unpredictable and will squirm unexpectedly, and you can’t approach her cage without…[Read more]

I just moved my bunnies inside and they have a new cage. They are set up exactly the same. They are neutered and litter box trained
for some reason one of my bunnies seem to be peeing out of the litter box
any ideas?

Great that he seems a lot better and is eating more and more on his own! It’s really exactly what you want. CC is a great “topper”.
The ceco you saw is most likely due to his cecal microbiota having been a bit disturbed. This is perfectly normal post surgery. The best remedy for this is hay, water and exercise.
I think Dana can give you great…[Read more]

He is a lot better. Though, now I really can’t get him to have his CC. Managed 3ml with his meds. He did eat all his salad last night and is eating more hay so hopefully he’s getting a good amount on his own and the bit I gave him will just be a topper. His poops are still on smaller size, but closer to his normal. He did lose a cecotrope. I am…[Read more]

I’m having the same little problem right now! I don’t have a suggestion for litter, but I would suggest to make sure that the litter doesn’t have any baking soda in it. Some store brands put baking soda in there and it’s not good for the buns.
