If the banana works, no harm using it! I agree you should limit it to just that. And no other treats either.

If you’re looking for something larger than a bath mat, you could try a small low pile area rug. You often find them at big box home improvement stores for pretty cheap ($20 or so). They are often sold for college dorm rooms, etc.

I’m not sure about retailers in Australia, but if you search online usually in the US you can get decent x-pens for about $30-40. If you look for the kind meant for dogs they are more sturdy. Neutering isn’t so bad! 🙂 When I got mine neutered, he was about 4 months old. It took about 4 hours. The surgery itself only took around a half hour, then they kept him in a kennel for a few hours. Echo what’s been said already, male-male bonds are totally possible once everyone is neutered. Once he’s healed from his neuter and his hormones have had some time to drain you can start working on their bond. If things seem a little crazy with them at first he might need more time for his hormones to settle down.
