If your buns are a good weight and eat plenty of hay, or alfalfa plus grass hay, they will be fine. FYI  Don’t leave mashed pellets or CC out for more than an hour or so without refreshing it (I think there are guidelines on this on the CC package as well). Once mixed with water it can grow molds very fast and become dangerous.

I’ll add a small precaution with oat hay, from my personal observation with my Wick: He would only eat the oat seed hays and not eat any of the hay itself, so although he was also super enthusiastic, he wasn’t eating a lot of hay because he just wanted the seeds, haha.

There isn’t anything wrong with your hay, it should still be safe to feed. Also it’s best to start a new topic when you have a question of your own.

That’s awesome he’s eating hay now!! If he pooped a bit he’s not blocked, so there shouldn’t be any harm in giving some CC, since his diet is still not back to normal.

More and more I’m learning the importance of hydration with keeping the bunny gut moving, so it’s really good you syringed water.

I do think those Joint Support treats help! They seemed to help Bertha perk up in her golden years and 11-12 yo Bun Jovi is still super spry (and loves them). I also noticed Bertha leaving more cecals as she got older, and I was never 100% sure whether it was more a mobility issue or a bit more tummy sensitivity (or a combo of the two).

Oooh yeah you could grow some wheat grass! You can get wheat grass seeds really cheap at health food stores (the “cat grass” seeds at pet stores are the same thing but overpriced).

Oat hay can also be very popular with buns that are picky about hay, so it might be worth trying if you haven’t yet.

Odd update: So for the past two days, I’ve noticed a crow perching on a tree branch near our balcony. We are reducing our Critical Care feedings from three a day to two (one in the morning, one in the evening). We have two plates of mushed pellets spread out in Hunny’s corral. Glad he’s doing better! I would keep giving the Simethicone, the only time my guy has tummy trouble is when he’s shedding, Simethicone always does the trick.
