The weirdness may be due to a change in pattern now that back I’m in work and not spending hours cuddling her during the day. We currently have her out running around and she’s done quite a few full sprint binkies so I’m thinking she’s likely quite good.

The neurologist took Hunny in for a basic exam and said he didn’t see anything that appeared abnormal. He also said not to bother with an MRI because it likely will not yield any new information; it would put Hunny through needless trauma. He theorized that Hunny could have a neurological issue that weakens her mouth and jaw, even though her…[Read more]

Hi I de molt mostly everyday. I brush and then go over with my hands to see if there’s any loose I can get out. I think the probability is fur pulling and having been with them most days for the majority of the day I haven’t seen any tiffs. I will however keep a close eye and maybe do a session in a neutral area to see if this settles down. Tha…[Read more]

The first is the possibility it sounds like you’re wondering about, which is whether one rabbit is pulling out the fur of the other. If this is a possibility, they may be having a tiff in their bond they might require some assistance if it’s not worked out. Be observant and notice if this may be the cause.
Another cause could be a heavy molt.…[Read more]

Hi, it’s me again. I’ve jumped on here again because I’ve found big clumps of my girls fur around my bonded rabbits hutch. They’ve been bonded for 9 months now and although humping is a regular occursnce between the two of them ( never escalates past humping and neither of them care other than hopping away if they’ve had enough). Both are neute…[Read more]

Yeah that would probably work, unfortunately I can’t hook up the hose in the backyard, I’d have to run it from the side of the house across the driveway and into the yard. 😐 I thought about trying one of those ultrasonic repellers.

I agree that if he’s showing unusual behavior she could be in pain and a vet visit might be in order. Is she spayed?

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Need Advise on Bonding 12 week old bunnies in the forum BONDING 6 years, 3 months ago
Firstly, if neither of them are not fixed, they should not be allowed to interact. Female rabbits can become pregnant as soon as 12 weeks old, and there’s probably some variation to that, so to ensure you do not have a litter on your hands, they need to be separated. There needs to be a gap between them as well, as rabbits have been known to…[Read more]

@amyef2000 covered it well, you need to keep them separated until spay and neuter. Babies (which they are both definitely babies) do get along but do not truly bond, and the fact that you are seeing some mounting means that hormones are coming in. Both to avoid accidental pregnancies and injuries to your young Mochi.
Keeping them as neighbors…[Read more]

Firstly, I want to mention that wild cottontails may operate under very different mechanisms because of their genetic differences from domesticated rabbits. My post is based in domesticated rabbits, since I have no experience with cottontails, so I’m unsure of their validity.
In domestic rabbits, the development of hormones can erase what is…[Read more]

That could have been it? Or if they aren’t used to your mum, maybe her smell set them off? Newer bonds can be more sensitive to small changes.
It’s good they have been back to normal so far. I would keep monitoring for another couple days and if they are still affectionate with no scuffling they are prob back to normal.

Baby rabbits do not truly bond, so once hormones come into the picture it commonly causes fights to break out. In your case, you did the right thing by getting them castrated, but there is also a change in hormones with the spay/neuter, so the rabbits smells change. Females can also have a post-spay craze, with hormonal fluctuations for several…[Read more]

A 24 hour update:
I should have mentioned I did check them for injuries straight after but couldn’t see anything amiss. We have been keeping a close eye on them and so far absolutely no signs of aggression – they’ve appeared back to their normal affectionate selves and Nutmeg hasn’t made the strange noise again.
I’ve been wracking my brain a…[Read more]

If he’s trying to mount her I’d keep them separated at least until after his neuter, if not also until after her spay. Once each has been neutered/spayed they will also require some time for any remaining hormones to settle down. They won’t have formed a proper bond yet, just a ‘baby bond’ which would likely break down as each hits puberty a…[Read more]

I am a new bunny owner and love my lil guy to death. I was so concerned about my bunny’s happiness I decided to buy a additional bunny so he can have a best friend as i read it is super rewarding. I read that it was best to get opposite sex and it was easier to bond them at a young age like 3 months etc. Boba is 3 months now and I recently got…[Read more]

Mid April, I adopted two wild, 2 month old cottontails (Hammy-Male, and Scotch-Female)/. I put them both in a two story chinchilla cage, in which they ate, slept, and played together. I built a pen around the cage that I let them play in twice a day for on to two hours each time.
Towards the end of May (30th or 31st), Hammy started humping…[Read more]

Advantage II is OTC in most places. Essential oils should never be used undiluted on the skin of anybody, not humans, dogs or rabbits, because it can cause real skin irritation. I cant find any scientific evidence for any effect of CBD on exo-parasites such as fleas (it seems it may have some effects on internal parasites). It would probably be…[Read more]
