Hi! I have seen feral cats around my house, and I am concerned about fleas. My vet is 30 miles away, and as soon as I can get my buns to her, she said she prescribes Revolution, for rabbits. In the meantime, if I see ear-scratching, would a drop of Texas Cedarwood oil, neat, rubbed on the nape be irritating (I think it would…)  What about cbd oil, or Botani-vet? Scary or okay? P.S.- My buns are strictly indoor bunnies, but I have picked up hitchhiker fleas, before I  started using my natural repellent.

I wouldn’t use any essential oils directly on a rabbit. There is potentially even danger with diffusing them with rabbits.

          I’m not familiar with Botani-vet.

If you are very concerned about hitchikers coming in, you can always check them with a flea comb to monitor and then ask your vet for advantage or revolution if you end up with a problem. (You prob know this already, but never use Frontline or any other fipronil product on rabbits, it can kill them).

Advantage II is OTC in most places. Essential oils should never be used undiluted on the skin of anybody, not humans, dogs or rabbits, because it can cause real skin irritation. I cant find any scientific evidence for any effect of CBD on exo-parasites such as fleas (it seems it may have some effects on internal parasites). It would probably be harmless for the rabbit though, although THC is toxic to rabbits so the oil should be without THC.
