jerseygirl replied to the topic Will behaviors change after spay in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 3 months ago
The spay can certainly help settle these behaviours, absolutely. But keep in mind, it doesn’t always happen right away, and some may pop up again from time to time (like digging), although not as persistent.
My older, neutered male rabbit digs at the bed sometimes and this is normally when he is seeking my attention. He settles when I start p…[Read more]

Don’t worry, destructo bunny definitely comes out during bunny puberty. For now, you might just have to up the bunny proofing game, like putting blankets over the couch to prevent digging, and block off areas where shes destructive. After the spay her hormonal behavior will definitely calm down.

It certainly could be residual hormones! Some rabbit owners report an increase in hormonal behaviours for a short time post-neuter. So hang in there, it should soon become better.
I couldn’t say why he particularly is reacting to your daughter. He wasn’t like this with her before the op?
Is she wearing a new fragrance? Using new body wash? Rab…[Read more]

Hi, newish bunny mum. My girl is 6 months and set to get fixed July 23rd. She has been digging at my couch. She lunges, growls, and gets aggressive when I try to stop her now (which is scary). She is also boxing when I try to get back in the cage. Will these behaviors change after she is spay? I keep reading she hit bunny puberty but it’s really h…[Read more]

My neutered male rabbit is crazy about my 15 year old daughter. When she isn’t around, he is litter box trained, well behaved and pretty laid back. As soon as she is in the room, he poops everywhere, sprays pee everywhere, humps everything in site and will not settle down unless he is on her or touching her in some way. As soon as she leaves, he a…[Read more]

How is she with her eating & appetite now? Had you noticed before all this any changes in her eating behaviour?
It is possible there is some dental problem but this can occur simultaneously as kidney/urinary issue. Particularly if there is a metabolic disorder. The clear urine is concerning… It can happen if a rabbit was not e…[Read more]

Onix will sometimes do this and make a loud hacking cough sound like it’s gone down the wrong pipe. I know I shouldn’t but it makes me laugh so much because he will just go straight back to inhaling his water like he hasn’t drank for a month.

My rabbit is literally the same, he’s now got the nickname Rat because he’s just so intense and I swear he loves being told off too!
In my old place he was the worst and ripped wallpaper off the whole wall and ripped up carpets on 2 rooms which I needed to replace.
i moved into a place now with all hard floors and just paint that I can fix whe…[Read more]

Hi all!
its been so long since I’ve posted but I am back because I am so curious about what my rabbit is trying to tell me. Be warned of the essay below…
Some context – Onix is 2 and a half, is a grey/lilac double maned lion head and we do EVERYTHING together. Recently we moved so it’s just us. He is free roam the whole house (bungalow) but…[Read more]

Louiethebunny replied to the topic Second Rabbit Soon? in the forum BONDING 6 years, 3 months ago
I am hoping he’ll get a new friend soon, as when school resumes I’ll be gone for around 7-8 hours and he’ll be alone (although he sleeps all day anyways). My room that Louie is in is the basement and is definitely not neutral, and the rest of the house upstairs is neutral, so if the bonding goes quick, keeping the hypothetical second rabbit could…[Read more]

Something I’ve found helps with chewing is placing the Oxbow corner toys and play tables placed around corners. I rub banana or some other treats on them too to show that the toys are for chewing and furniture isn’t. Shelving will also be your best friend! I have some pretty inexpensive wall mounted shelving that just gets drilled into the wall so…[Read more]

Yes, at least Hunny tries. I just wish she would more frequently. She’s gotta be hungry…
Unfortunately, Hunny has trouble eating even tiny pieces of hay/greens. It’s like she’s forgotten how to chew/use her mouth.

At least she is still trying! Hopefully she will start getting more food down. I assume you have already tried shredding the greens up into little pieces? Sometimes that helps if a bunny is having trouble manipulating large things into their mouth.
