What exactly is she eating? Some greens can cause more gas then others and perhaps on top of everything else she has some kind of dietary intolerance that she never had before.

That’s lovely! I’ve had the same thing happening with my bun Bam, stasis that resolved with a big splotch of gooey poo, then everything was fine again 😊

@JackRabbit Poor sweet boy, I never knew him, but he sounds like he was the sweetest little thing. I’m so sorry he has crossed the bridge, but am happy with the knowledge that he lived a good and spoiled long life, and will continue to do so with his siblings over the bridge. <3 Rest in Peace… little guy. 🙂

@Dface Thank you! I’ll see if I can get a vet appointment. I haven’t been to a small animal vet in a long time so I hope the one I can find is good. :/

As part of our after spay/neuter days (my lops had their surgeries on the same day), their separate areas were set up as mirror images (close but still allowing for no contact).  They continued to do everything “together”.  Once they were healed and hormones dissipated, we crossed our fingers and held our breath as they were reintroduced.  They…[Read more]

I would also recommend a larger bin, since that free room doesn’t really do much anyways. I think your pen might be the same as mine, which means that the Boot Box from the Container Store (if there is one in your area you’re able to go to safely) does well. I’m sure there could be Walmart equivalents as well!

You can apply sudocream, or special sore hock cream is also available  to treat any inflammation of the hock

Usually sore hocks are from poor flooring, poor posture , nails not clipped properly, excessive weight or due to not having enough fur on that part of their foot. Try and figure out why you are seeing sore hocks and treat the root cause…[Read more]

    Hi

Sorry I have duplicated some of this thread in the wrong section. I believe I’m in the right place now.

I want to thank you all for all your thread’s about gi stasis, I would have been totally lost over the last month without all the advice.

I think we need to let the Tucker bun naming war rest since our sweet boy has crossed the bridge.  He has a number of brothers and sisters at the bridge with him and they all know him as Tucker.

We miss you sweet boy.  #bobbforever

Ditto, what Hazel said. Re-homing is, unfortunately, the best option you have, for if you keep procrastinating it, you will become too attached to him. You have to look at what is best for the rabbit. Step out of your shoes, and imagine you were him –  if you could choose, what life would you want? Don’t overthink it, it is not a multistep…[Read more]

I would get them to a vet, seeing as you want to get them vet checked anyway there’s no real reason to delay it.

Not being allowed into the vets is only stressful for us, its no worse than a regular appointment  for them, if anything its probably easier because they dont associate you with the stress.

There’s a lot of reasons for rabbits to…[Read more]

@Louiethebunny They are such cuties! <3 Did they hop up there on their own? Snuggle bunnies! Also, did you make that hidey-house under them? That’s some good crafting. 😉

Lessons in Friendship Part 3: Showing off

It’s important to show other rabbits how great you are.
Pick your strongest trait, for example, speed.
Let them know that in the event a predator attacks, you will survive, and  you will leave them to die. That is a sacrifice you are willing to make.

Thank you for the info! He only had the one gross poo and has seemed totally fine since. I’m actually shocked at how fast he bounced back from this since the vet told me he had no gut sounds at all when I dropped him off. My other bun had stasis 3 times and was always a bit under the weather for a few days but Wall was a-ok starting on day 2.

Oh my gosh I’m so glad you noticed! Everyone remember: rabbits can’t breathe through their mouth! If you notice an obstruction in their nose, even just a little bunny booger, it needs to be removed right away.
