Jadeo09 replied to the topic Can anyone recommend if any of these products are a suitable replacement for hay in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 11 months ago
I also agree woth the others. My rabbit needed monthly dental procedures until we took her off pellets. They cause the teeth to ground in an unnatural way compared to actual leaves that they would eat in the wild.
Have you considered growing your own grassa and weeds. There are grass seeds that can be grown very quickly in the house, but that a…[Read more]

She did used to have soft squash able poops and mushy cecotropes that would be stuck to her bum.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>I used to give dried weeds just because she was mad for dried dandelion and green oat hay mix from a baby, but also as I had read they are supposed to be closest to the natural diet. But we also went to see a rabbit…[Read more] -

Does anyone know if bonjela can be used on rabbits? Or possibly some other numbing cream/gel that can be used on the mouth?

That’s great! Yes he should be good for a year until he’s due for his booster. 🙂 I got mine done a few weeks ago and it was SUCH a huge relief.

More natural forage (such as dandelion, plantain, sow thistle, fennel, fresh grass) can be really good for bunnies with sensitive tummies if introduced gradually like any other veg. Wild plants have much more fiber (along with other things) than veggies that have been selectively bred for humans to eat. I’ve also found that carrot tops (the leaves…[Read more]

Bam – Yes, a weight diary makes total sense! And that’s really interesting. I have heard of rolled oats too to supplement which sounds like a good idea if that’s the case with Snowball!
Jade – Thanks so much for writing! Did your bun have moist poops and that’s what let to no vegetables or pellets? And how did you get into giving dried wee…[Read more]

He looks like he’s doing better. Thanks for asking! He’s been eating some of the Oxbow Timothy hay. And there’s been less hunched over sitting and he flopped over so cutely earlier.
I haven’t seen him drink water today, but it looks like the water in his bowl went down a bit. Maybe he’ll eat more hay tonight when he’s active, then drink. I ga…[Read more]

Hi guys!
My mom hasn’t spent much time with my bun yet, but today when she came in Esther started thumping. Anybody know why this might be? My guess is that the two encounters she’s had with our dog (she has been completely separate since) occurred after my mom came into the room. Esther does not like my dog, and thumped after seeing her. My…[Read more]

I’ll give the breed answer after a few more guesses, lol my main head scratcher is her color. I might send in for a DNA test for sure but I love reading all of you guy’s thoughts on what in earth her color could be..
I originally thought it was brindle too, but as I said, her markings are an exact replica of her mom, only like a photo negative

I thought about the molting thing, as well, she is 3 months old and 8.5 lbs. As for the molting theory, she has been like this as long as her fur had grown out, it’s a very clear and distinct pattern. It has gotten brighter orangey red over time, I’m not sure if it’s due to sun bleaching due to the time she spends outside in the yard, but the…[Read more]

so in cats and dogs it’s called a brindle pattern for her fur, and google seems to think that works for bunnies too. Looks like Japanese Harlequins are brindle. Anyway, I am not good at this guess the breed thing, so probably wrong!
