Very cold Easter here as well, I just saw my balcony is full of snow! 😳

Of course you cant move if Breintje is asleep on your robe!

I squeegeed up a whole bun’s worth of fur from my bedroom rug yesterday 🤣

How’s everybunny doing? It’s a surprisingly cold Easter Monday here, with light snow in some areas of the country. A couple of days ago we still had temperatures near 20 °C. After we woke up Breintje was a bit miffed that it was so cold, so I decided to sit down with him on the sofa to warm him up. Bit of a mistake there: it’s 14:30 now and I’m…[Read more]

Only young buns (under 5-6 months of age) should have alfalfa hay. If your bun is used to meadow hay now, its a lot better to keep her on meadow hay than to shift her over to alfalfa hay.

Hi! I’ve had my bunny frodo for 5 years now and he’s well traveled since my spouse is active duty military, so he’s used to flying in cabin. We have to move to Hawaii in a couple months and I’ve been researching and reading about airline restrictions specifically to the island. Luckily rabbits will not need to quarantine and only need an inpection…[Read more]

Yep, your best bet would be to treat for mites. If the treatment doesn’t resolve the issue, then you can start looking into other possibilities.

    Just an update;

The owner never responded. I did reach out and even offered to drive the full hour to grab him, told her I’d fix him up and give him a new indoor home.

I just hope they gave him off to somebody capable of caring for him, especially since its Easter season.

Thank you all for the responses, I did really try to get him. I don’t…[Read more]

You answer was very helpful, thanks. My rabbit is eating hay. I feed it with meadow hay. Also since it is young, i gradually reduce it and give alfalfa. I was worried when my rabbit pooped in different sizes. I thought it were constipated. If the rabbit’s fresh poop is hard, it means its prone to constipation, right?

I typically feed only the blooms/stems, not the greens.

Are they high in calcium as well?

My piggies go crazy for them, Walter enjoys them, but he doesn’t have a brother to fight to get his share.

I completely agree with Pam and Dana. Rabbits spook easily, they’re hard-wired to do so. Even my bun who is of a very easy-going disposition, gets spooked sometimes. I acknowledge, but don’t approach physically. I talk to him softly, that generally does the trick.

You have not undone the trust they have in you. Once they have calmed down, you can…[Read more]

One final suggestion, are there professional bonders where you live? Some places (esp in the UK) there are professional bonders that will bond your bunnies for you (or will tell you that you prob just don’t have a good match).

Might be worth looking into if all else fails.

So, you should set things up so they can’t nip each other through the fence. That can definitely make them annoyed with each other. Lowering the head is a request to be groomed, but with ears back is a more dominant/aggressive gesture. The digging might calm down with a partial visual barrier.

And oh, believe me, I know they can turn into little…[Read more]

I do hand plucking and brushing with a small slicker. My bun is a lionhead cross, so I can’t lint roll him (I’d never be able to disentangle the lint roller). My other buns were normal-haired and lint rolling was a very good option for them. They seemed to hate it way less than any brush or comb!

I brush until it takes a long time for the slicker…[Read more]

I doubt you undid any of your trust!

Bunnies can spook sometimes. It can be very hard and scary to watch, and sometimes hard to know what spooked them. Myra is somewhat prone to this, and one of my bridge bunnies Moose was also very easily spooked. I usually stop whatever I’m doing, sit down, and speak calmly to her. I don’t try to approach her…[Read more]
