        Hello again…

We have a LOT of dandelions in our yard.  Totally organic.  I harvest them daily for the G.Pigs, they love ’em.

Walter is a fan too.  Is there a limit on how many I can feed him?

I think he’s fairly new to the fresh food thing, so working up the amount. I think this morning he got a little much, bit of pepper, baby carrot, then some dandelions a few hours later.  Found a couple soft, smelly poops, so probably too much, too soon?

And, of course, I’m the only person in the world who purposely tries to grow dandelions and they don’t come up!  Gotta just rely on nature’s bounty.😁

Dandelions are fine to feed everyday as part of the mix. So as long as he is used to them, it’s OK.

Dandelions are a great food, very nutritious for buns. The only thing to be aware of is that they are high in calcium and can be a diuretic. So if you notice any sludgy urine or him peeing where he shouldn’t, you might be overdoing the dandelions.

I would actually prob get rid of the pepper and baby carrot over the dandelions as a culprit for soft poops, but any new food should be introduced slowly.

I typically feed only the blooms/stems, not the greens.

Are they high in calcium as well?

My piggies go crazy for them, Walter enjoys them, but he doesn’t have a brother to fight to get his share.

You should feed the greens too! My understanding is the whole plant has a lot of calcium, but again, it’s not really an issue unless you are feeding tons of it and you start to see excess calcium in the urine.
