Update. My boys have been doing really long bonding sessions in the second neutral pen at my moms for two days now. 8 hours one day and 9 the other. No tiffs. Today there was some grooming, eating together, playing with a toy together and litterbox together, but mostly relaxing today in hide boxes. Sometimes separate and sometimes squeezed…[Read more]

Aww! I love it! I tried a pet tent for my bunny and all he did was rip it up.

Hello everyone!
How is everyone and their buns doing? I haven’t posted anything in quite a while, life getting in the way I guess.
Both Glenn and Nellie are doing well and keeping healthy, Nellie still has her issues with intermittent gas, usually in clusters likely due to shedding, but we are managing this pretty well with help from our…[Read more]

I agree with Bam. It sounds more like marking than not being litter trained. If she was consistently using the box before, there’s a good chance she will resume after she is spayed.

Is he awake or sleeping? Bunnies twitch in their sleep… and it’s really freaky looking when they are doing it while asleep with their eyes open.

I think that’s a bit long to wait if it is getting bigger. It’s hard to tell from the photo. It could be an abscess or other infection. You don’t want to risk permanent damage.

I’m so sorry Bam, sounds like you’re in a really tough spot in your area:( It is also hard to get into regular rabbit vets here for emergencies during regular hours, by the time I would call around to the ones within a 30 minute drive I might as well just go to the 1.5 hour away ER where I know they are the best. But at least I have that. The…[Read more]

Yes, I agree. Where I live there’s no longer any ER rabbit vets. There was one until last November, when she wasn’t on duty, the other vets could consult with her for a fee. Now that possibility is gone. My rabbit vet recommends a certain generosity with meloxicam prescriptions for long time patients and owners (This vet runs a daytime-only…[Read more]

Thank you! Yes I will ask my vet. I’ve been to several in my area so I have a couple I can call. Some seem more willing to give that type of advice than others, sometimes it seems they are more picky about that stuff and giving out meds for emergencies than human doctors. It’s all so weird and frustrating! Having a solution for people without a…[Read more]

Alright so. I’ve had my unfixed Flemish giant for almost a year now. He’s a very docile, happy and sweet boy. I decided after scheduling his neuter for this week he’d need a friend to keep him busy while I take a new job. I got her last night, she’s a 2 month old lionhead girl. I wasn’t planning on bonding them until a good month or two from n…[Read more]

Hello again. Second day in this large room in the bigger pen. All is going well still. Doing 8 hour plus sessions. They do still run up to each other demanding to be groomed. Sometimes the honor and sometimes they don’t. Mostly do. Anyway, will this always be? Or does this mean they aren’t bonded yet if they have to demand it?

Ok, he’s going to the vet on the 27th, is that too late?

If it’s getting worse I’d call a vet and hear what they have to say. A lump under the ear can be something that needs to be opened up surgically or expressed via the ear.

We can’t give veterinary advice here, because we are not vets.
I was once given meloxicom pills (for humans) instead of liquid meloxicam. (It was during the pandemic). I dissolved part of a pill in water so I knew how much meloxicam there would (theoretically) be in a ml of the water/pill mix. I stirred well before measuring up the prescribed…[Read more]

Has this been going on for a long time?
A few weeks ago, during and after a bout of tummy trouble that could’ve been brought on by a heavy shed, my bun had a short period of “shaking” or rather “rocking” while resting. It lasted less than a week. Her body (most notably her ears) moved with each heartbeat, it seemed. I couldnt get a rabbit vet…[Read more]

Hello
Have your bunnies been fixed yet? That usually eliminates the problem. -

Hey!
What sweet names. It sounds like the sessions have been going okay generally. Bonding can be tough.
I think you are probably just doing too much too soon. The buns should remain in a neutral space, with just hay and water at the most until they are pretty much bonded. Things like blankets etc and Mr. Bunny’s primary space are going to bring…[Read more]
