I went through a period of this when my boys were newly bonded as well and it resolved after a few weeks so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that yours will too. With my boys they were just bonded and the submissive rabbit wasn’t fully onboard with being submissive and I think that’s why he was doing it. Even though they’re bonded, it’ss new and…[Read more]

Wow, sounds like he had a whole lot of issues. 🙁 Hopefully he got some help too.
I love animals, I totally get why people want to do something for them. Unfortunately they often don’t commit. If you want to save a stray that’s great, but that means getting them vet care, altering and if possible, giving them a proper home. Just throwing food…[Read more]

Yes, these situations are weird and comparable to indoor animal hoarding. The people who do this often have a history of mental problems, and animal control is familiar with these situations.
The old man I was talking about was very paranoid and a chronic drug user. He tended to humanise animals and thought that neutering/spaying animals was the…[Read more]

Wow, that’s a bad error. Seems like somebody should have noticed that. I hope you got an apology at least.

Thanks everyone for the advice! 🙂
@LBJ10 : There are a few organizations in our area that do low cost spay and neuter for ferals, but as far as I can tell we would have to pay for it ourselves. I’ll keep researching though, and we’ll call animal control as well.
@HipHopBunny : “Greenhouse Devil” 😆 Sounds like he earned that name. I got…[Read more]

I haven’t heard of that as a remedy, but I have heard that type of neosporin is OK to use. When we had a pair at the rescue start doing this, it resolved on its own once the situation was less stressful. I think unless it seems to be getting worse, I would prob just monitor them and try to avoid making any other changes for a little while.

Coincidentally, I just came across this, it’s really well done. Looks like the Humane Society International is working on a campaign to end animal testing in cosmetics. You will cry, but worth watching and sharing with those who may not think about this sort of thing.

Next time they’re chasing I’ll make sure to check, thank you.
Other than just monitoring them, I’ve heard about people suggesting putting Neosporin (the type without pain relief) to deter bunnies from over grooming. Would you recommend trying it out or have you heard anything about that before? Thanks -

Our antics mostly boil down to Breintje being a typical rough & tough boy. Not careful where he jumps, crashing into furniture and people at full sprint, and not giving a fluff if he falls off something.
He really had to learn the hard way that I can’t move my right leg properly anymore, so I can’t make an emergency stop while walking. He had a…[Read more]

That does look like over grooming to me, since it’s higher than the tear duct area.
One other way to tell about chasing is to look at the tails. Tail up is more aggressive.

My buns are holland lops so its a bit hard to tell when they’re running but once they stop they both seem relaxed. Graham isn’t tense once they stop running, she just hops around a bit or goes to get hay or water or she’ll just flop over in a cool corner until Mochi starts chasing her again.
I’ve seen her grooming that area a bit when I’m in the…[Read more]

I wish he would! I can do most of his without restraining him, but there are a few nails that I need to do. He’s funny, he doesn’t mind being held for cuddles but doesn’t like nail trims at all. Vs my girls hate being held for cuddles but are angels for nail trims. Bun Jovi doesn’t like being held for ANY reason whatsoever lol

Oh Cooper, those aren’t snacks! 😀 does he trim his own nails too @DanaNM? That could actually be nice.
Ellie i am sure you have some tales of Breintje antics! I remember your story about the mashed potatoes and a certain very small bun!
