I can’t remember where I saw the idea for the 2×4, but mine aren’t quite 2 inches so hopefully not a problem. Xpens straight across don’t work very well but it’s what I had…Ruby did get to him but only “fake” bit him. I repositioned the bricks to keep the fencing farther apart.
He has become a hyper boy. I thought he was 1.5- 2 yrs old but he’s…[Read more]

Good to know. It pretty much goes away, maybe dries hard for a little bit then he cleans it.

ShalP started the topic Room mate's rabbit does /not/ like me! in the forum BONDING 4 years, 10 months ago
Hello! I am not a rabbit owner- my room mate has a dutch rabbit as an ESA. She can be very sweet at times, but she just does not like me very much at all. She tries boxing me, bites, and has even hissed at me. She is supposed to live in an enclosure on my room mate’s side of the room (it covers about 1/4 of the floor, she has plenty of space +…[Read more]

I’m so very sorry you lost Monty. It is very hard. There’s not really any general timeline for grieving. It does gett easier with time, though, but some people (I’m personally one of those) need a lot of time.
As for taking Sylvester to spend time with Monty’s body, only you can decide if the benefit outweighs the “cost” in terms of stress. If…[Read more]

I’m so sorry to hear about Monty’s passing. I’m unsure how quickly you need to decide, so I want to brief and offer my two-cents.
Ultimately, you know Sylvester best. We cannot read our rabbit’s mind, but as people who have been caring and loving Sylvester all this time, I would trust your instinct on what is the appropriate choice, while knowing…[Read more]

Our beloved Monty suddenly left us early Friday morning after being hospitalized a day earlier. It was due to complications from a GI obstruction that ultimately took him. It was traumatic to hear that we were losing him after being told earlier in the day that he was improving. He held on long enough for the Vet to call us to say he wasn’t doing…[Read more]

That really doesn’t look that bad. Does it dry hard and get crusty? Or does it just disappear?

It’s not that wet and not all the time, but it keeps coming back. I think it’s a small amount of clear discharge. I don’t think condensation due to the temp here and how it was like that where I met him then still at my place.
The breathing seemed little louder than I’ve heard in other buns, although agree he was excited. The mouth dropping a…[Read more]

I would always place the phone book on the floor with it open (somewhere in the middle of the book). They loved tearing the pages.

Oh! You can also get untreated pine planks and attach them to the wall where you baseboards are. Then they can chew on those instead of the baseboards! I think there is some info on that in the “bunny proofing” section under “rabbit info”. Some buns really like to have something solid and anchored to sink their chompers into.

DanaNM replied to the topic Bonding mixed signals? in the forum BONDING 4 years, 10 months ago
This sounds pretty normal to me. I wouldn’t allow them to touch noses through the bars at all. Since the territory isn’t neutral, once she feels like he is actually getting in her space, she wants to defend it. If possible, have them spend 24/7 next to each other. You can swap who is in what pen every day or so.
Once they are calm with this set…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Is my bunny unbondale?? in the forum BONDING 4 years, 10 months ago
Going on speed dates at the shelter is a very exciting thing, and humping can be expected. Usually there are more issues with rabbits that are outright aggressive towards other rabbits (and I even know of some of those who were deemed unbondable that years later bonded easily to the right rabbit).
I’ve noticed a big decrease in mounting during…[Read more]

Awwww he’s so cute! And just look at them laying near each other! 🙂
Also such a smart idea with the 2×4 to keep the buffer between the fencing! Will have to steal that idea!

LBJ10 replied to the topic bunny has fur mites in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 10 months ago
Advantage II is safe to use. However, if your bunny has fur mites, it would be ineffective against them. Fur mites need to be treated with Ivermectin or selamectin (e.g. Revolution).
Do not use any products containing fipronil (e.g. Frontline) on a rabbit. It’s toxic to them.
