I’ve had a song that I used to sing to them when they were sick or in hospital but it never occurred to me that this way the song is associated with pain and bad feelings. Thank you for the tip! I find another song/sound/clicker and use it when something good happens, like treats.

I’ ve never tried clicker I thought it works only with dogs. But that sounds interesting. I’ m going to look it up how does it works, thanks! Yesterday evening we separated them for a short time (my husband played with the sociable one in the other room) and I stayed close to the roaming shy one but no touching. I’m going to spend some time this…[Read more]

Binkies! That would have done your heart food. You’ve been through the ringer!
Dorians recovery is sounding pretty typical with slowly increasing appetite etc. one thing you could try to aid it further is feed him and Miu at same time where they can see each other. (If you haven’t already !) Especially since you are already seeing a lot of mirr…[Read more] -

Bun Jovi and Teddy are blessed to have their humans who care so deeply for them. Vilde was another blessed with such an attentive, loving person.
I haven’t commented much here but I have been routinely checking in on these old boys.

p.s. you had mentioned arthritis early in in the thread abs wondering if he could be older then you thought. Certainly, he could be older but is also possible for early onset of arthritis. He’s also a larger breed that reach senior age sooner than compared to a dwarf breed.

I wanted to mention Revolution also, so I’m glad it’s on your radar. From memory, ivermectin can treat ear mites but dosage is different to what is effective for fur mite. But it might be time to try the selamectin instead if a different vet is willing.

btw, that photo had me so confused until I worked out that was Nora 😄

Yes, they will be doing a biopsy on it. Her surgery is February 15th, and since she loves my husband more he will be taking her. Hopefully all goes well, she doesn’t handle stress well.

Thanks for this. My own vet doesn’t want to give me revolution for the mites but I’ll be finding a new one that hopefully will. If I see any signs of regression after his first panacur treatment I’ll consult with the vet on continuing it.

I’ll try to find a better one for sure. And I only see ivermectin mentioned as subcutaneous on that site, he gets it orally once a week for 4 weeks. Not sure if that’s right either but either way it doesn’t work.

If changes to his flooring don’t help then you could try making a boot for him. There are instructions online showing how to wrap the foot. Otherwise, I know a few people have purchased handmade bunny boots on Etsy that seem to have helped.

Hi, just wanted to pass along some information I came across from a holistic vet. The treatment is used for cats and dogs but as bunnies are already use this medication it likely works on them as well. I recently lost my sweet bunny to cancer and wish I had known this before we lost him. Good luck to all those fighting sickness in their bu…[Read more]

… it seems very odd that not even blood work was considered. I’d definitely find a vet who’s encouraging of doing some diagnostic work.
I’ll also just note that the med course you mention isn’t what I’m familiar with for actually using ivermectin against ear mites: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Mites

Some rabbits don’t seem to enjoy how human pets feel. Maybe it feels to unusual or unnatural, considering how large our hands are compared to another rabbit licking them with their tiny mouths!
I agree in some sound association. For my past rabbit Fable, it was helpful to do some repetitive baby talk with exaggerated tone and song to give her a…[Read more]

Having it removed sounds like a good idea. That also allows a closer examination of it to further understanding of what went on.

Hmmm, I wonder if you could try some clicker training with her as a way to bond and interact that doesn’t involve petting? You would prob need to separate briefly from her partner (as simple as just keeping one in the pen and letting the other one out). If she takes treats from your hand then she would probably enjoy it 🙂
