Hi! thank you both so so much this has helped a lot!
I will take him to the vet and get him vaccinated ASAP. I’m also going to monitor how he is with the alfalfa hay and if it seems like too much calcium, I can start mixing in some orchard grass, but I’ll check with my vet!
Thanks so much for everything!
How often should I take my bun for…[Read more]

Vaccinating for RHDV2, in my opinion, is a must. Regardless of how unlikely it is for a rabbit to get it wherever they are located, the reality is once the rabbit gets it, the rabbit will pass and there is no action to prevent. Additionally, that rabbit, for a brief time, is also then a hazard for other rabbits it may come in contact with, making…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Going back to work–Get bunny a friend? in the forum BONDING 11 months, 1 week ago
It is generally always recommended for rabbits to have a bonded partner so they have companionship, so yes, that’d be a great idea– however, it is not as simple as getting a second rabbit and putting them together. As long as both you and your husband are on board, you would need to review what is needed to properly bond two rabbits, while also…[Read more]

Hi 🙂 I’ve never heard of problems from under the skin like build up– scar tissue seems more likely, though when I think of not being able to actually push down, I lean more towards mechanical equipment problems. Perhaps there are different gauge needles this time around? How do you typically get the supply?
For something under her skin to cause…[Read more]

Thanks for the update @mia, and I’m sorry things are not as efficient as expected. I’ve notified the team about the ongoing occurrence.

FYI, I still have both these issues.
Login is not seamless normal behavior. I need to log in multiple times and refresh multiple times to be able to login and post.
I still get awaiting moderation for every single post.

I would continue what bun was already eating and take your bun in to the vet asap. During the visit, ask them about their recommendation for bun’s diet. That way you are feeding what bun specifically needs based on how bun is growing.
I would go ahead and get bun vaccinated. The stress is just a day and bun has to see vet anyways.

mia replied to the topic Looking for shears in the forum DIET & CARE 11 months, 1 week ago
I accidentally adopted a monster… They call him a lionhead he’s really some sort of monster. He is groomed significantly down so I got tricked.
Anyway, I bought small scissors and thinning shears. I tried practicing a little on the bun that this post was for using regular scissors and it barely cut anything (fur way too thick and fine) so I…[Read more]

Hi Everyone.
We’ve had our bunny for 4 years. He was about 1 year old when we adopted him. I have worked from home for the entire time that we have had him but now may need to start working outside the home full time. My husband and I are wondering whether we should get our bunny a friend so he doesn’t get lonely during the day. Any tho…[Read more]

Hi!
I’m bringing home a baby bun on Friday, a purebred holland lop baby.
I asked the breeder for the pellets he eats and the hay, she is great and will supply it for me for a bit, but  she recommended switching to Timothy hay right away from alfalfa since it’ll be easy to transition. But the bun is only 9 weeks, so is it a good idea? She said…[Read more]

They suggested getting her tested for EC, which I am considering, though test from my reading are often inconclusive and as she gas no other clinical signs not sure if treatmenteven makes sense (at leastbased on my currentreading) . I suspect if it is the cause she had exposure in the womb. Making sure her immune system stays strong seems to be…[Read more]

Hello BB friends, long time no see! I hope you and your bunnies are happy and thriving.
Luna has been on regular, subq penicillin injections for almost a year now. At one point we managed to get them down to every 3 days, but most of the time it has been daily/every other day. I reckon we are on over 200 injections now. She is super good about it…[Read more]

prince dorian the bun replied to the topic Struggling to feed critical care in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 11 months, 1 week ago
Ended up making a very runny critical care and that helped a little. Also she didn’t seem in pain just stressed so skipped the gabapetin for the 2nd day (it was just for pain). Also eventually gave up on trying to force feed her as she would get so stressed and end up worse. She was eating a little on her own, so just tried to encourage that.…[Read more]

What are the ear drops? I’m surprised the vet didn’t prescribe an oral antibiotic.

Ear infections often first present as GI stasis, my vet said in a rabbit ear webbinar last year. It’s because ear infections are very painful. Rabbits are sensitive to pain and tend to stop eating when in pain.
Metacam is not a strong painkiller, it’s similar to ibuprofen for humans. Just like in humans, NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti inflammatory…[Read more]

Everybun is different.
Gabapentin is for nerve pain and it can make buns drowsy; my vets warn every time and label it as such. I’ve given it to a couple of my buns and it’s never made them drowsy. One is on it (and metacam) for long term for other reasons. I’ve never given it for stasis specifically but it is a very safe drug with a very large…[Read more]

Charlie my four year old lop girl is being treated for an external ear infection with baytril optic. 2-4 drops once a day.
She was showing signs of GI stasis Monday before we knew she had ear problem. I had metoclopramide so started her on that. She was much improved quickly and did great Tuesday. Wednesday she wasn’t herself and ate but r…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic How can I convince my parents to let me keep a bunny in my bedroom in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 11 months, 1 week ago
So… why do you not want the bunny in the office? Is it purely because you don’t want to “share” with your sister? I love my bunny to death, but there’s no way he would be in the same room where I’m trying to sleep. LOL
