Thanks for the advice. I will separate them for awhile and hopefully it helps these siblings get back to loving each other again.

Thank you so much. The vet examined her and agreed it was time. I think deep down we all know but it’s hard to actually acknowledge it. I have another almost 12 year old bunny and I’m not looking forward to this process again in time. For now he’s full of energy and not slowing down yet! Thanks again.

Agree with Bam, I think separate for a few more weeks to make sure all remaining hormonal fluctuations are done, then you can follow the bonding process and reintroduce them.

Hmmm it looks to be mostly grass to me, I don’t see much or any alfalfa. I think it should be fine for your bunnies. If you notice any clumps of alfalfa you could remove them, but a little alfalfa should be OK.

@martini you might be referring to the European RHDV2 vaccines, Eravac and Fillivac? They were under emergency use authorization in the US on a state by state basis, and each vet had to undergo a pretty complicated process to get them. Now with the domestic vaccine, it should be much easier moving forward (though it still might take some time for…[Read more]

You should separate them and start aproper bonding process in a few weeks. A “baby bond” isnt a true bond, and rabbits often become extra hormonal (and thus belligerent) up until about 8 weeks after the spay neuter. If they get into serious fighting now, it could lead to them holding life-long grudges.

I have a male and female Flemish giant rabbits named Ruby Tuesday and Amara. They have been neutered/spayed almost a month ago. They have always gotten along well since I had them. They are a week away from six months old. They have in the last week started to fight (I assume) as a few times in the morning I’ve seen their fur in different places i…[Read more]

Hello, I just recently bought hay from a person. This person claims that this is 1st cut timothy hay with a mixed of alfalfa hay. I usually buy 1st cut Timothy hay from Ontario farms and it consists with a lot of timothy seed heads and thicker stems. This was soft and smooth and it makes me think it’s a mix if timothy/orchard and alfalfa from 3rd…[Read more]

Is it dusted with baking soda? If so, then I agree with Dana.

As previously mentioned, it depends on the state AND the vet. Although it was approved in NY where we are, our vet still could not administer the vaccine. For now I am solving it by flying my bunny to Belgium where I travel often and get him vaccinated there, and will keep doing so every year until it becomes available at our vet in NY. It is so…[Read more]

I would not use it due to ingestion risks. The following topic from the past includes a quote from Dr. Dana Krempels: https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/litter-with-baking-soda/

Thank you everyone for your kind words, I will miss him a lot he was like my child and best friend, but I find comfort in the fact he’s no longer suffering, I kept it all at bay for for a very long time thanks to echinacea but nonetheless it happened, I know lop eared rabbits are not as lucky. I did however give the vet an ear full on not having…[Read more]
