Gotcha! You also might try to do some sort of session every day, even if it’s short (like 10 minutes). I think some sort of interaction daily will help, even if you only have time for longer sessions on the weekends.

Bonding is so stressful! I always start out thinking it will be so calm and it never is LOL. I have been told it’s easier when they aren’t your bunnies though.

Keep us posted on how it goes, I do think with just some time and patience they will sort things out. There is definitely a balance with how much to pet. I like to pet lots in the early…[Read more]

Just. a thought but have you tried hock socks? One of my little guys is constantly messing up his hocks he is a grumpy thumper. So I put the cream on his footies and have him wear these booties throughout the day.  Here is a link to them if your interested

Hey I actually posted this in another thread but you could give hock socks a shot and they keep your little one from licking off the cream.

If you search OneTwoHop on Etsy you can find some there. I will also put a link below. Maybe this will help!

I had a foster who had this condition (or at least was suspected to). Same markings, same symptoms, same age of onset. 🙁 I’ve very sorry for what you are going through, it’s very stressful. 🙁

The condition is referred to as either megacolon or cowpile syndrome. Bunnies who have it tend to have difficulty keeping weight on, so some owners find…[Read more]

    This is unique!

Could it be she is like one of those dogs that pee when they get super excited?

Did you end up asking the vet or finding out why she pees with treats?

MooseMouse replied to the topic Digging Box in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 9 months ago

I have heard of some people using topsoil for dig boxes but it might not be much better. I have a dig box for my buns and no matter what I used they liked to play and use it as a little pan.

I ended up just putting a towel on the bottom and filling it with toiler paper rolls over time. Every now and then I scatter some kibble in it to give them…[Read more]

It could be that the eye drops sting  and that’s why your bun acts differently for several minutes. I once got some awful OTC animal eyedrops that I tried on myself before I gave them to my dog. They really stung and gave me blurred vision for many minutes, so I never used them on any animal.

For buns I have only had fucithalmic (fucidic acid…[Read more]

My Emma has had issue with her right eye leaking for a few weeks now. That is something that happened to her from time to time and would go away after 1 day. I have no idea if it’s also leaking a milky discharge, all I know is I would notice her fur being very crusty around her eye multiple times throughout the day and her eye being swollen and w…[Read more]

@Dorian: awww, and what a lovely lazy flop it is ^_^ He’s got a beautiful colouring as well, with his dark little nose! Funny, it’s like the cinnamon colour that Breintje had, but in black and grey 🙂

For all the people who are wishing for a lap rabbit: give them firm footing. I noticed this with both Breintje and Owen: they sit on my lap…[Read more]

Thanks for your insight on this!

That’s promising to hear that you’ve bonded scared bunnies before! I think my worst worry was that I may not be able to fully bond an scared bunny

Your point about not petting her while he mounts is very helpful because I thought this was keeping her calm but perhaps I am actually interfering where I shouldn’t…[Read more]

A bun wont die from dehydration over a few hours. If he seems ok with the cucumber I’d keep giving that, or half a cucumber if it’s a big cucumber and a small bun – you don’t want him to fill up on cucumber alone because that means he gets too little fiber. In the summers when all the buns I’ve had have been eating lots of fresh grass and leafy…[Read more]

I raised a rat, from a pinky, to almost 5 years.

I was in 6th grade, some boy had brought him to school, a little nekkid baby, probably only a few days old.  I just grabbed him and that was that.

Fed him from a syringe.  Mom kept him warm in her pocket.  One time we looked in and he was holding his tail in one hand, sucking his thumb on the ot…[Read more]

I have so much to type but I will try to keep it short and focused.

I have a netherland dwarf, with black around her eyes and black spots down her spine, female spayed, thats almost 3 years old. A few weeks ago I noticed that she wasn’t eating much and looking in pain. I took her to the vet and she got treated for GI stasis. She stayed with them…[Read more]

So the vet visit went well! Thank goodness. I showed him my pictures and then he took a look at her, and he said it’s not as bad today as it was from the picture, so that’s good news.
he said I should continue applying the flamazine to both feet, I do it once a day and he said I should bump it up to twice a day. I’m going out of town tomor…[Read more]
