If you have a decent basement, that could work! 🙂

I don’t think most rabbit-safe litters clump. I don’t scoop anything, I just wait 2-3 days then empty the whole litterbox out. It’s easier than constantly spot-cleaning. Hooded litterboxes are good for keeping the hay, poop and litter in so the bun doesn’t constantly keep digging it out. You would just have to make sure it’s properly ventilated,…[Read more]

Sorry i just realized i have more to add, my room is so close to the street and front entrance of my house I’m also a bit paranoid of him getting spooked by the cars that pass by and can u believe that my neighbors in front run a car shop in front so they’re always making noise and starting car engines.

Hi, so I’ve notice i have a bunny prone to stress and i feel like that has been the cause of his GI stasis, I’ve moved them both (bonded pair) into my room because i feel like my living room would be too much noise (i am Hispanic with 5 family members, so the stereotype is real it’s a loud family). Anyways my room is very small and yeah there…[Read more]

If he is a lionhead, a sanitary shave would be a good idea!

Glad the hay feeder is working out!
Regarding the mites, are you thinking fur mites or ear mites? Often with fur mites, rabbits can have low levels and no symptoms, and then occasionally something will cause them to flair a bit. In either case, you’ll want to get Revolution (Selamectin) from the vet. They can give you the correct dosage (never…[Read more]

@Azerane, I’m so glad to hear it’s been resolved!
Bun weight is supposed to come off at snail’s pace. Just listened to a vet webbinar last weekend where the importance of slow weight loss was specifically pointed out.

Bam replied to the topic Peeing when getting treat in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 9 months ago
I thought of puppy dogs too, peeing when excited is very common in young dogs, at least in girl dogs. It’s like it gets too much for them, controlling pee and be overjoyed at the same time =D
I’d mention it to the vet, but just to feel safe.

I’m sorry. It sounds like it’s wise to wait! It could be about hydration. If your vet thinks it’s a bad idea, it is a bad idea.
It is a common procedure to put a catheter in the ear for longer surgeries and/or if the bun is older or poorly. It gives the opportunity to give fluids iv during surgery and also to reverse the anesthesia in case sth…[Read more]

I’ve done my research and I’ve always thought pine shavings are harmful and toxic for bunnies, since it can cause liver damage. It’s not absorbent at all, anyway. Woodstove pellets crumble as soon as they get soiled, and then it sticks to the bottom of the litterbox. That’s why I just used to use a charcoal puppy pad and hay. I only had to change…[Read more]

Forgot to update, the issue with our landlord and the buns has been resolved. The impression I get is that the property manager stuffed up, the landlord was annoyed to discover the buns living inside, so the property manager tried to make it our fault. A meeting between the landlord and owner of the agency had everything resolved fortunately. No…[Read more]

Thanks everyone!
And yes, for any of your renters out there, read lease agreements carefully and trust your spidey sense, even if you’re desperate to find a place like we were. When in doubt, have an attorney read over it before you sign anything!

Yes, it’s only temporary! I know it seems like a long time, but things will be OK. And I’m sure Cooper will get over it… although I know it’s hard when they are accustomed to certain things and then that has to change suddenly.

Thank you. I’m going to speak with our vet to see if this is a good option for him. He just had a thorough vet check in October but we didn’t really talk about arthritis or pain management. I’m also using washable mats and swapping it out when it gets soiled. He seems to go on it now so it’s not getting on the floor.
