    Topic created for @bunbaby<3

“I’ve noticed my baby has contracted mites somehow, I don’t know how this would’ve happened since she’s a single ladyy, I don’t other pets other than her. But I’ve been concerned on how i can clean her area out while giving her treatment and if I have to throw away this litter/hay feeder I’ve made for her 😞…[Read more]

My bun is already an adult. She is one year old.

But that’s the thing, she eats plenty of hay, greens twice a day and limited amount of pellets. Her other droppings are completely normal. She eats her cecotropes just not these ones which she leaves once a day every evening.

Could this be even from greens?

Because it happened suddenly, I haven’t…[Read more]

Hi, I had thought about making something for mine that was sound proof/sound resistant when I was having work done at my place. I never actually did it… but the thought was a large box, or crate, or house made of NIC cubes, then cover with a sound proof blanket or foam. That way, they could at least get some sound relief when they wanted to…[Read more]

Yes, those are cecotropes. They’re often stuck together like a bunch of grapes, but they can also be separate.

If your bun is young, this is nothing to be worried about. If your bun is an adult, her diet might be a bit rich.

Buns “should” eat the cecotropes as soon as they emerge, but if there are too many cecos, the bun wont eat all of them.…[Read more]

Hi, I found this in my rabbits litter box. Is this a cecotrope? She leaves this every evening at the same time. Sometimes like this together and sometimes its fallen apart.

Other are normal poops, round and full of hay.

I adopted Seal (the one who gets GI stasis) a little over a year ago, and the rescue mentioned he used to live around dogs. Sometimes there is yelling but it’s mostly like feet stomping and the opening and closing of doors that kinda make me paranoid. I can try speaking to everyone in my house to work something out if not then yeah my room.
    I m…[Read more]

The rule of thumb the rescue I volunteered at went off to wait 3 weeks after a spay or neuter before dating. Keep in mind rescues do things a bit differently because they have very experienced bonders, and are usually able to try lots of different combos of rabbits to find good matches. Fluctuations after that 3-4 weeks are not unheard of, but the…[Read more]

How long have you had your bunnies? Buns will get used to noises they hear a lot, but you’re right in that certain noises can still be stressful, especially when they are unfamiliar.

Usually having the buns in a busy part of the house is actually better, because they get more interaction and attention. That said, if it is a lot of yelling and…[Read more]

You’re welcome! It’s nice having the forum to distract me from how much I miss my own buns.

That’s awesome the shorter session went well! Maybe the longer one helped them get over a plateau. 🙂

What is the longest time you have heard of for a female to quiet down and stop hormonal behaviors? And how soon can I put my 2 females back together after a spay without them hurting each other? I’m trying to learn all I can since I plan to spay Tina and Parsley in March. Thanks!

I don’t think most rabbit-safe litters clump. I don’t scoop anything, I just wait 2-3 days then empty the whole litterbox out. It’s easier than constantly spot-cleaning. Hooded litterboxes are good for keeping the hay, poop and litter in so the bun doesn’t constantly keep digging it out. You would just have to make sure it’s properly ventilated,…[Read more]

Sorry i just realized i have more to add, my room is so close to the street and front entrance of my house I’m also a bit paranoid of him getting spooked by the cars that pass by and can u believe that my neighbors in front run a car shop in front so they’re always making noise and starting car engines.

Hi, so I’ve notice i have a bunny prone to stress and i feel like that has been the cause of his GI stasis, I’ve moved them both (bonded pair) into my room because i feel like my living room would be too much noise (i am Hispanic with 5 family members, so the stereotype is real it’s a loud family). Anyways my room is very small and yeah there…[Read more]

Glad the hay feeder is working out!

Regarding the mites, are you thinking fur mites or ear mites? Often with fur mites, rabbits can have low levels and no symptoms, and then occasionally something will cause them to flair a bit. In either case, you’ll want to get Revolution (Selamectin) from the vet. They can give you the correct dosage (never…[Read more]

@Azerane, I’m so glad to hear it’s been resolved!

Bun weight is supposed to come off at snail’s pace. Just listened to a vet webbinar last weekend where the importance of slow weight loss was specifically pointed out.

I thought of puppy dogs too, peeing when excited is very common in young dogs, at least in girl dogs. It’s like it gets too much for them, controlling pee and be overjoyed at the same time =D

I’d mention it to the vet, but just to feel safe.
