The Oxbow Digestive Support tabs are perfectly fine — like many other commercial-made goodies for rabbits, they may contain ingredients that, in large quantities would not be great, but in small amounts as designed by good-quality companies like Oxbow, they rarely bring about issues in rabbits.
For what reason specifically were these…[Read more]

Thanks, Bam. I saw the article already. That’s why my heart is telling me that something is not right regarding his treatment. He needs to be assessed again. His poop definitely not watery, its a mushy poop, his bottom is clean though. It’s a mystery.
I made an appointment for Saturday.

Hi DanaNM,
Thank you for you reply.
The behaviour I was seeing the netural was them both seeking each other out to sit/lie next too. With Basil(boy) he was also flopping alot something he didn’t do in previous bonding attempts.
They would also both groom each other but Coco would request the most and also give the most. Coco was my original bun…[Read more]

Both are great bunny greens, ribwort plantain is very practical because it grows throughout most of winter. I found an especially beautiful specimen last spring in one of my pallet collars (I grow most vegs in pallets collars), for rabbit purposes I transplanted it to a big pot where its still thriving =D
Broadleaf plantain is a sturdy plant that…[Read more]

Rabbits don’t really get pneumonia from stress, but stress can aggravate a pre-existing condition or make the rabbit more prone to illness. Silent pneumonia isn’t uncommon in rabbits. It will as a rule show up on chest x rays.
From what I can find, cyniclomyces is often found in diarrhea in rabbits, which doesn’t mean that it causes diarrhea. I’m…[Read more]

Yes! When she was a baby she and 2 other babies got what I assumed is the Nest Box eye. Their eyes were crusty with what looked like a little pus. We caught it right away and would use a warm wet cloth to clean the eyes. If I remember right it took 3-4 days for it to completely go away. As for her eyelashes, I will Have to check when I get home.…[Read more]

DanaNM, I am also confused. Initially they said his does not have any ova/parasites/yeast growth. Then vet talked to a specialist outside of my province and that specialist recommended nystatin. And they think he has mild pneumonia because of ?stress. I am keeping my bunny in a quiet separate room. Now I am considering to have further…[Read more]

Hmm… they look like corneal abrasions. But it would be weird for it to be on both eyes. Usually it would just be an injury to one eye. How are her eye lashes? Curled in eyelids can cause problems with both eyes simultaneously.
Another thought… I found this article on MediRabbit:…[Read more]

I thought cyniclomyces was part of the rabbit gut microbiome. Just like anything else, it can be opportunistic… but it doesn’t sound like this is the case here. I mean, at least by what you’re describing. I didn’t read through everything. Have you considered a probiotic?

LBJ10 replied to the topic Stomach gurgling in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 9 months ago
I agree. It’s probably gastric distress as Wick suggested. I wouldn’t be too alarmed if he is still eating and pooping. You could always try giving him some simethicone though to see if that helps work the gas out. Since this has been ongoing for a few days, it does make you wonder if something new (but consistent, like a new food) has been introduced.

Hello Everyone! I have an eye question for anyone who has experienced this so story time first.

When I first bonded my rabbits, the girl was peeing outside the box for a while. She would even go back to the closet where I bonded them and mark all over! I tried different litters and boxes.. but it was probably just the new bond and time helped. I think it was several weeks then she suddenly started using the box all the time again.

Not much of an update but so I can help myself keep track: we did day 3 of stress bonding today. About 50 min in the car. They didnt lean together as much as I’d hoped, but they were still forced to be against each other. No fighting or nipping that I saw. At times Ruby was half on top of him trying to get out.
How many days of these carrier only…[Read more]
