Thank you for sharing this journey with us! I will be embarking on a bonding journey within the next few months, and Ruby’s and Maxwell’s story is highly encouraging. Any fool could see right away that R&M make a perfect couple, but rabbits aren’t fools 😃

The second one definitely looks like a lionhead mix. The first one looks small to be a satin, how old is he?

I have changed the topic title for you 🙂
What a LOVELY set-up for these newly bonded buns.
Please do feel free to edit the topic content/leave comments with a summary of your journey — these are always very helpful for future rabbit bonders. -

I agree that, while typically we expect a bond to hold through travel stress, that seems to be what’s at play. Continue to monitor and things should settle down soon!

Please see here for a video that can help distinguish between stasis and bloat, though proper veterinary assessment will be most conclusive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVW6Rw5rZzo
The important reason for distinction is bloat (typically caused by a blockage) is much more serious, requires immediate veterinary attention, and one should not…[Read more]

The first night together in their final home went fine! Maxwell especially is happy to have more room full time, and has been a little bit of a spaz. They like to run up and down the hall together, although Ruby can’t always keep up! They have 2 litter boxes but will sometimes share, they generally seem to want to be relatively close to the o…[Read more]

Yeah, one of the reasons my vet didn’t think Elmer had a blockage when he did, was he was still passing some poops. I guess they were past the blockage but she didn’t realize it was possible… so I wouldn’t rule it out depending on other symptoms.

You did a great job with them! Hopefully everything is still going well in their final home and you can get some sleep!

Ok that’s all helpful!
I’m guessing this is all just because you were traveling. As long as they aren’t bickering, I would just keep an eye on them, and things should calm back down over the course of a couple weeks. I’ve had to go through this with my buns when we’ve moved but things usually calm down on their own.

Yes, definitely! Endive (and the closely related frisee and chicory) is a great staple veggie because it isn’t high in calcium or oxalates. My bunnies love it.
Kale is very nutritious and high fiber, but is higher calcium, so I feed it in a rotation and usually don’t have it make up more than 1/3 of the day’s salad. It’s also a brassica, so…[Read more]

Hi he is pooping is is very unlikely to be stasis or a blockage. In some cases a blockage could be high enough that poops still could be coming through, but rabbit digestions functions more or less like a conveyor belt. Food has to be moving through to push out the poops.
What symptoms are you seeing? There are other causes of pain beyond stasis and gas.

We had the best date so far last night! Scout was interested in the mini’s and went to sniff them. She took off back to her own side without any nipping. Even Smudge sniffed without nipping. And both girls groomed and laid down to rest (separately) while the boys munched on some willow leaves about two feet apart. I call that a success! 🙂

I’m thinking scent glands too. You should clean them 😊 Here’s a little video on how to do that:

Hi, is it possible that the rabbit would have a blockage if passing poops? Or I can be sure it’s the gas or GI stasis?
